Heading to San Diego for a few days. Any suggestions for some cool spots/restaurants/tri related stuff to check out while i’m in town?

Depending If your single - married - or are a kid yourself .
- La Jolla cove , pacific beach ,west mission beach , point loma , Torry pines beach state park , Del mar area beaches . These are great and normally choked with cars and people on holidays ,best seen on a Wednesday about 11 am to 3 pm. The last two are long flat beaches for walks . Try to park 1/4 to 1/2 a mile away and walk in when its busy.
2.You can throw away money at the Zoo and Sea world , If you have never been once every 10 years is enough .Nice to see once.

If you cant find sunshine on the coast go east , It can be overcast and cold at the beach . Alpine -Julian are hot with the record found at borrego Desert . Julian has a bit of tourism the others are just hot small towns.

As for food and drink all the beaches have watering holes on the sand / board walk . The other spots would be Old town ( old town Mexican cafe ) ( Guadalajara ). Most of the other places are touristy dives .

Coronado Island , Check out the Hotel Del and on the other end toward the city ( old ferry landing ) there are some good restaurants .

Down town is busy ,but you can find some nice places in the gas lamp . Take a short walk around sea port village ( tourist junk for sale ) Head toward the cruise ship piers and a few old sailing ships .

Its been awhile since I was there, but my wife and I really enjoyed the Gaslamp district. Great restuarants, and some really good live jazz as well.
Spot
Croce’s in the Gaslamp is one of my favorite bars anywhere.
Fiesta Island is where the first tris are believed to have taken place. It’s a nice, short run on the outer network of roads. It’s our Holy Land.
And you can spend whatever you were going to spend at Sea World instead at Nytro in Encinitas.
