Have you ever been on a ride and seen someone in full livestrong kit that was actually fast?

There’s one guy here in Winter Park that wears a LS kit and is pretty fast. Everyone else…no so much

But how is this any different than wearing a cervelo, astana, discovery, or any other team kit?

I like to think about it like this…there are guys that wear lebron or kobe jerserys at the gym playing bball all the time, and obviously they aren’t as good…it’s all about the BLING

Lance who ???

Same question…only…

“Have you ever been on a ride and seen anyone in a full Team in Training kit that was not back of the pack and arrogant about it?”

Oh man, I was at a store yesterday that had some second-hand cycling stuff on the rack. I found a purple TNT jersey in size medium and came THIS || close to buying it. They wanted like $20 for it and I didn’t think it was really worth it for the comedy.

Go Team!

Who took the Hoho’s?

well around here the guys in cervelo jerseys are actually fast. the sample size may be unfairly influenced by a cervelo shop in town where everyone that works there is pretty quick though

2 things. GO TEAM! and LIVESTRONG. I wear both my TNT kit, earned through years of fund raising, and my LIVESTRONG kit, also from donating to cancer research, with pride. Ever see a loved one waste away and die from cancer. Not F***ing pretty. How about a close friend who will be leaving 2 young sons behind when he passes within the next 3 months, if he’s “lucky” enough to last that long. Get off your damn high horses and let it go. Not everyone can be scary fast and only give a shit about what their time for an event was, or how aero they can get, or that they have the newest most expensive bike out. In the grand scheme of things these mean absolutely nothing. But if the money I’ve raised for TNT or spent to buy a LIVESTRONG kit can help fund cancer research that can save one father, mother, or child, then I’ll do it every time and wear the colors proudly. GET a clue guys.

Let me guess… Specialized?

since you brought it up perhaps one of you could tell me if a jersey with the zipper on the left/chick side is just that, an all chick jersey or co-ed. I’ve had this

jersey hanging in my closet for some years now and never worn it thinking it was ladies only.

I am alive today because of people like you.

Thanks.

why do these discussions always devolve into this?

silly jokes with a bit of truth to them do not mean I hate cancer research.

you can fire back just as many silly cervelo jokes about me and it doesn’t mean you hate science.

OR DOES IT?

x2. . . Supporting cancer research, riding “fast,” and the various branding of our gear are not mutually exclusive entities.

We don’t need to devolve into the "who’s had the worst/most intimate/most life-changing/most tragic/etc experience with cancer to justify our relative fastness, slowness, or the kits we wear, or, most importantly, the priorities in our lives. Get off your high horse and enjoy the humor a bit.

It’s not like we’re talking pow. . . Nevermind.

So I realized after my posting it sounded a little harsh and I was doing the same thing only from the opposite point of view. It just seems that alot of posters on this forum only care if you can ride at 25mph and run 6min splits. I’m by no means a podium guy but I read this forum for the pointers and yes the humor and I let most of the, " you didn’t really run a marathon unless it was sub 4hrs" comments and threads roll off my back. That being said when the issue of cancer is raised, and the average people who raise $ for research are bashed albeit tongue in cheek, I get pissed. Kinda a hot button of mine. Maybe I should just go out and ride my bike.

ride that bike in full livestrong kit at 26mph just to show em…me
.

I see it all the time. It’s usually Justin Williams or Iggy Silva. Those guys have crushed a dream or two.

Naah…those types of guys get pulled over around here:

Yeah…pulled over for “impeding traffic” (too funny, huh?). The officer shown has been pulling over cyclists lately a LOT…

that in Austin or your area?

I will wear the Livestrong kit and its for 2 reasons:

  1. My wife bought it for me

  2. Its white!! At 104 degrees in AZ it makes a huge difference. I have a few white jerseys, bibs and kits. You can ride black if you want, but I’ll take the white, even with grease smudges : )

Here…specifically, Montecito. Big Tex has been hangin’ in SB all week…

This is why I wear a Schlitz jersey. Nobody expects someone in a beer jersey to be fast and I don’t disappoint.
