I was thinking of this last week as my wife has the non-stop Xmas music radio station on (to make it worse, they play that Delila lady in the evenings)

So yet again, thanks for screwing everything up Baby Boomers!

Does anyone else find “I saw mommy kissing santa claus” rather disturbing? A kid’s unfortunate recollection of his mother making out with what appears to be some random, fat, bearded, elderly guy in the middle of the night. Pretty sure that if I saw something like that as a kid, I’d be much worse off than I am today.
As to your original question, the answer is no.
Excuse me sir, but her name is
Dee-liiiiii-laaaaaaah
.
After reviewing that figure, I would like to take your question a step further: Were there any good christmas songs in the 20th century?
Adam Sandler did a pretty funny Hanukkah song in the 90’s.
And then there was the Bruce Springsteen one in the 80’s
Im a huge fan of tim minchin. He wrote white wine in the sun. One of my two favorite christmas songs
That one is probably the weirdest.
But as I pointed out to my wife last weekend, if you listen to the lyrics, “Rudolf the Red-Nose Reindeer” is pretty messed up too. He’s a social outcast, all the other kids make fun of him. But only until he proves himself is he considered worthy. Great message!
Rudolph with his nose so bright should have told them to suck his reindeer balls!
I don’t know whether that cartoon is accurate, but I find it sad that there are exactly zero traditional Christmas carols listed.
I’ve recommended this approach here before, but as a public service, I will mention it again: if someone is playing Christmas music, a really effective way to get them to stop is by singing along in your best impression of the Swedish Chef.
I can’t imagine that “Oh com all ye faithful” was released in the 20th century. Most traditional carols are OLD, right?
I almost forgot about the best xmas song that actually came out in the last 20 years.
“Ding! Fries are done!”
Yes, a decent amount actually. They just don’t play much of it on the radio.
I nominate this as the best christmas song of the last 20 years. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P37xPiRz1sg

On that note, my daughters refer to “Baby its Cold Outside” as the date rape song.

Why is it the baby Boomers fault that the slacker generations can’t come up with anything new?
If you listen to a lot of the “new” popular music today, much of it contains music, sounds, etc. that are direct copies from what the baby boomers listened to as kids. I see this as a lack of creativity among the new artists.
Write one yourself, if you are so disenchanted. Submit it to you-tube, give us a link and we’ll critique it.
Just an FYI, there are a LOT more Christmas songs than those on that list, consider this:
Funny-- on the same lines-- “BAby it’s cold outside” was on the radio the other day, and my college age son asked (somewhat jokingly) if I found it disturbing that the guy keeps suggesting things, the girl keeps saying NO-- and he keeps sexually harrassing her.
Does anyone else find “I saw mommy kissing santa claus” rather disturbing?
Yes disturbing. We have to assume that the child is either “Ok” with mommy making out with strangers and or assume that that the child knows it’s not Santa…I prefer to assume the latter.

Yes that song is a bit creepy as well…“Yo…baby, come onbaby…yeah come on baby…it’s cold out side…show me some love!” would be the modern rap version I believe.
Of course I came from a household were “Rudolph the Red nose reindeer” was morphed to “Adolph the Amber assed Antelope” every year so creepy Christmas songs weren’t that large of leap.

Remember that back when that song was written, “NO” really meant “YES,” and the repeated opposition toward his advances was simply her way of playing hard-to-get.
Wow, I actually looked up all the songs I could think of and A) either they are way older than 20 years old or B) “Relyric’d” older songs.
Grandma got run over by a reindeer was 1979.
“So this is Christmas” I Think was 70’s
“Rusty Chevrolet” = Da Yuppers “Dashing thru the snow”
“12 pains of christmas” = “12 days of Christmas”
I did remember the depressing song of “The Christmas Shoes” which appears to be 2002.

I really like Train’s, Shake up Christmas (used in a Coke commercial as well).
