The idea that cooling the head (scalp) would play anything other than an insignificant role is just silly for many reasons.
Glabrous! Together with palms or hands and soles of feet, it’s the very best.
See also ice in the hat, ice cubes in mouth and both hands.
Ice would be buoyant though so would surely be banned.
I’ve seen latex caps stretched over bike helmets for both aerodynamics and for warmth on cold/rainy rides.
You missed when the ice slides all the way down the trisuit and starts giving you that icy fire down below feeling.
LOL! $273 with GPS Tracking $410!
And the coneheads prefer to eat fiberglass with their fried eggs
had that pleasure at T100 London last year when I was shoving ice in my trisuit. Not a great feeling!
Of course Joe Skipper is at the front of the line to get one (on the advert on the website). ![]()
““““It’s totally for safety””””
I thought that was him! LOL!
And now it’s made an appearance at T100 San Fran. 9:27 into the video
Do you think the overhead space can contain exothermic effect (for the cold waters of SF Bay)?
Maybe we can put a hydration bladder in it with a straw to make sure people don’t bonk on fast SF swim?
Well if they are going to make funny ads like this I may have to get one…
Well he’s wearing it in the race!
Hi please take a look at the sciece page EZ Hydro Glide Swim Cap Science – EZ Gains Ltd also just take a bit of time to think what is Hydrodynamic and how (thermoregulation) can help.
Thanks
I get what you guys are doing here but I’m still wary that the governing bodies are going to consider this a swim fairing.
I was much happier running through transition holding my hydration bladder in my belly like Santa clause than standing inline for the swim start looking like a cone head.
Has anyone confirmed this is faster?
The irony here is that if it isn’t faster the odds of this taking off are slim. But if it’s documented to be faster (somehow? Who’d we trust to test this?) then it will go the same route as the bottle down the jersey - everyone who’s paying attention will get one, and then IM will ban it because it’s a fairing.
Neither the World Tri nor the Ironman Rules prohibit the use of “fairings” in the swim. The only element of the WT rule is that if this is worn underneath the issued cap (as it would need to be) this unattractive protuberance must be logo free.
This thing is not marketed as offering any hydrodynamic advantage, probably for good reason: there will be none.
