Has anyone seen FSA compact cranks?

Tried to order at local lbs but was told that they are not in stock. Does anyone know if there is a delay? High demand? Not enough being made, sorta like shimano DA?

I have run into the same thing. Apparently the product is out there, but not enough to keep up with supply. Kind of like Shimano DA.

I have the FSA Compact 50/34 on my P3, I bought them in October. My bike local tri shop did not have a problem getting them. They are worth the wait if you have to.

What length do you need? The 175’s are currently available.

I thought this was cool and others might want to see the FSA Compact gear ratio compaarison.

Demand is pretty high, I think. It took about three weeks for me to get them in. Now that I have them, I have to say, they are pretty sweet. They seem pretty stiff, but the biggest improvement over the Campy cranks I was running is the ankle clearance and Q factor. Seems a little more comfortable to me.

The gearing is pretty awesome, great for climbing. I run an 11/23 in the rear, and can climb pretty much anything. BTW, Yaqui is now selling bikes that come with the FSA Compact cranks and DA 10 as standard equipment. Good call if you ask me.

My LBS took two weeks to get them (I’m picking them up today).

I got the carbon set for my race bike and the forged aluminum for the road bike.

I think your LBS owner needs to be willing to lean on the distributor a little. I heard my guy on the phone and he just kept at them until they said, “OK! Fine, we’ll send you a set. Goodbye!”

Thanks. Looking for 172.5

Julian,

Are you doing away with the triple? If my memory serves me correctly you had a triple on you P3. Let me know what you think about the FSA Compact’s, I think you will be impressed.** **

Hello there,

“Compact cranks” are nothing more than the old 110/74mm bolt circle crank pattern (that is very common with triples) that don’t have a third inner chain ring. However, shimano’s dominance of the market has changed the typical bolt patter of triples since they use a 130/92mm on the road cranks and even more different pattern on their MTB cranks.

If you can’t find the FSA cranks, see if the local bike shop can find a non-shimano brand (stronglight is an example) that still makes a 110mm bolt circle triple and simply remove the inner ring, if you don’t want it.

I think I have read somewhere here that Ritchey make a “compact” as well. It really depends on whether or not you are married to the “splined” style bottom bracket.
