I went in to my LBS in September and after fitting etc decided on a dual (2004) in a 51. I paid 90% up front, as the money would have just been frittered away if I had had access to it. A week or so later they said that they couldn’t get the bike, but would do me the Dual 10 when it was available for the same price.
However, it is now nearly 2005 and still no bike. I have no problem with the shop, as I trust them completely, 3 years of great service tell me this. They just upgraded my mum’s purchase of an X Lab flatwing to a saddlewing for free as they had no pre christmas stock! However, I am wondering how long this might take now, and the shop seem not to be getting great info, Oct became Nov became Dec/ Jan etc. Are there just none of these around due to Ultegra issues? Or am I as a UK customer some way down the list when these are being allocated?
So anyone not working for Cervelo actually seen one?
I can’t speak for the Cervelo issues specifically, but Ultegra 10 speed is available. I had an Ultegra 10 group delivered to me last week. It’s still in the box awaiting transport to my LBS, where it will find a home on my new Aegis Trident.
Yeah, the shop said that if I wanted another bike with the Ultegra 10, they could do that. It was just the bike they weren’t getting yet. As I say the shop has been great. (Sigma Sport in Hampton Wick- worth the namecheck!)
Well, admittedly I work for Cervelo but here is the scoop:
The standard Dual has been in stock continuously. I don’t believe we have been out of a size at all in the last six months, production is keeping perfect pace with demand. So I am at a loss why you would have been told they couldn’t get the bike. It certainly is not a stock issue with Cervelo.
For the Dual10, these have started shipping as well and we are starting assembly on another large batch here later this week. Those will ship in January and that will take care of virtually all backorders.
