Harriman Roll Call (1)

Wondering if the ST contingent shot their load at Amzof?

I’m in for the half.

I’ve taken the ML anti swim training approach this year. Kinda hoping for another fog out

In for the “Olympic” wishing it were the usual 29 mi bike rather than 21.

Hope the weather holds out- looks much better on Friday!

At least you still get to climb LWD twice that’s always fun
.

I’m in for the Half too - not looking forward to my first OW swim of the year though - any idea on expected water temp?

I’m guessing 60 give or take ( more likely take) I’ll be swimming in Greenwood Lake (about 10 miles north) on Friday. I’ll report back. It was freezing 2 weeks ago and temps haven’t risen much.

Can you help me - I’m going to West Point this weekend for graduation and staying in Center Valley. I’ve never been in the area. Can I swim in the race lake or some other lake in the park the day before the race? As for trail runs, I would assume there are lots of trails in the park. Anything else I should see or do in the area? We leave Wednesday morning. Too bad the race is the same day as West Point graduation. I could have killed two birds with one stone, as they say.

Whereabouts can you swim in Greenwood Lake ? been looking for some local OW to practice in as getting a bit bored of the Y in Ridgewood.

There is no swimming in Harriman before the race. Check w/ the Military Acedemy about swimming at Camp Buckner (rte 293). It’s where the swim is held for the West Point tri.

There is really no reason to go to Harriman to run as Central Valley/WP are beautiful themselves. Actually, I’m not familiar with running trails at Harriman, I’m sure there are but I tend to stick to the race course.

You should check out Bear Mountain too. Nice trails there and walking zoo if you have little ones.

Also, if you don’t mind dropping some good money on dinner check out Gasho of Japan. It’s where they cook at your table. More of a novelty, but nice views and a lot of fun. Food is good, not great.

Enjoy and Congrats

Go Army, Beat Cornell - in lax  I’m heading to Stony Brook on Sunday to see The Cadets kick some Red Ass!

I’ve got a boat there, so pretty much the entire lake

Actually there is a sand bar just beyond the roped off section of the public beach. However I think the life guard may have issues with you going beyond the ropes.

I’m also in for the “olympic”.

First time at Harriman. Hoping for nice weather!

Shame…Sounds similar to the Harriman Park beaches - they don’t like you going outside the ropes…and with my swimming abilities I wouldn’t get far.

Now where did i put that wet suit?..

careful now… GO BIG RED! (I didn’t even know they were playing)

I too am in for the half, God help me.

Well, you get some sort of special finishers shirt. Or is it a straightjacket

Starting to get excited, weather is supposed to be great. Maybe the water will break out of the 50’s???

You can count on two things being cold at Harriman; the water and my beer!

I’ll bring some of my local Blue Point Toasted Lager if you bring some of your local quaff.

Ha! my sister is in Sayville. Blue Point is near there aint it? Good call, I fill my growlers at Defiant Brewery in Pearl River.

Sounds good, I will bring a growler of Blue Point Toasted and some bottles of South Hampton Brewery’s best.
