Anyone know the elevation gain for the harriman loop (14 miles - the one used for the nytc sprint triathlon)?
Last I heard the loop has 1500 ft… I’m not exactly sure though. I’m sure some of the more close locals will check in.
I can load up the file if you need to know, but I think it’s 1200-1300vft. It’s a bit more if you do the race, since you start at the shore of the lake. Whereas if you just ride it, you chop off the ride up from Sebago shore…
Someone gave me a very cool website the other day, www.routeslip.com, you map out a ride and it’ll give you distance and an elevation profile. I haven’t messed around with the site much but I think you can save it to their database and it’s there for anyone who’s looking for a ride in that area.
Thanks alot. No need for more detail - did 7 pretty brutal loops yesterday in prep for IMC and just wanted to get an idea how it compared to IMC course climbing-wise. Again, thanks!
Seven laps at Harriman? Bravo!!
I’ve done 6 (3 in one direction then reverse) as prep for IMLP and found them to be harder than two laps at LP. I called it 86 miles (including ride in from Sebago Boat Launch) and 9000’ ft. of climbing…

according to my file from 7/4 it’s 1322’ per loop
.
My Polar 625x generally calls it somewhere around 1120’-1140’ per lap on average
(give or take 60’. Last weekend I got 1080’ and 1140’ for the laps I did in there. Last year at the HIM I had all 4 laps at 1120’)
1500’ from the website is a joke, that’s WAY off.
(even including the start from down in Sebago for the sprint races there it’s less than that)
Wow - 7 laps eh? I’ve never done more than 4 on the course in a row.
(I like to mix it up and add other loops and whatnot if I’m riding long in and around there)
Which direction do you find to be harder/slower?
They both suck pretty much the same…But they do make you strong…
C’mon ML…let me hold onto the 1500’ per lap…it gives such nice round numbers…

7 Loops, that is awesome…I definetly think the loop going up Lake Welch,I still love the way you bomb down the hill and than a u-turn into a 1.5 mill uphill climb. Plus 7 lakes is no slouch either on the way up to Tiorati.
When I have to use multiples to equal the number of laps I must be getting weak.
