Hardest ironman in the world

What is for you the hardest IM around the globe ???

Norseman for me…

Kona. Tough to get into.

Ford Ironman St. George looks pretty tough… check out the bike and run profiles…

The one on YOUR schedule soon …

Silverman?

For those that have done it, how does Great Floridian stack up in terms of toughness compared to some of the other IM and iron-distance races?

5 on a scale of 1 to 10. It can be higher if it gets hot and humid.
I think Lanzorote is pretty tough.

Kona is totally dependent on the wind and the temperature. The “course” profile is not that tough.

The one you’re just about to do.

dammit rroof beat me to it.

Placid with 3.1 inches of Rain or the Triple T in good weather…

I’ll let you know in six weeks.

Depends what the OP means by hardest. As in most difficult course terrain/conditions etc or hardest to get into.

Obviously the latter is Kona, but Norseman has to be the physically hardest iron distance race in the world followed by Lanzarote.

Hi aerobike, true, Kona is tough to get into…
thanks for your answer!

Hi , Mr. Poopy Pants increible profiles !!! wow !!!

Tougher bike than Norseman but easier run…

I remember Philippe Lie, and Yves Cordier both winners of the Embrunman (considered by some as the hardest IM), and Yves Cordier with an 8.40 or so PB in Kona, including an 8th place for Cordier and maybe a top 20 for Lie but I’m a bit fuzzy on this…

They both agreed that Hawaii was harder for them. Competition was a lot stiffer, they both climb really well, and are not as good when it comes to motoring on the Queen K, and neither liked the heat very much…

So, in the end, the answer is, it depends

Yeah, i have read something about Embrunman…very tough ! true.

Maybe Altriman will be one of the hardest Ironman triathlon distance. This year will be the first edition, near my home at the Pyrenees . Its harder than Embrunman.

And my dream is Inferno Triathlon, maximun 250 participants, less than 60 finishers

Out of curiosity, what do you think makes Altriman harder than Embrunman? The race elevation? The bike course seems to be about 3500m climbing versus 5000m for Embrun.

Embrunman has quicker times than Norseman.

Altriman looks awesome, the video looks great. Anyone know of the details in English?

Inferno also looks good. The need for a road bike and a mountain bike makes it very tough for foreign competitors!!

Oscarjet, are you doing Norseman this year?

A friend of mine that has done Embrunman two times-and participates every year in four Ironmans because he want to arrive to 100 Ironmans and this year will participate at Altriman explain me that the Marathon was very hard. I dont remember it exactly but seems like the elevetion of the Marathon is higher. And the total elevation of all is higher in Altriman than in Embrunman
