Will post more tomorrow but wanted to chime in as I have had a very full pre-dad day that included some great conversations with other dad friends of mine. Tomorrow will be dad turned up to 11…
Parting (pre dad day) thought - this year I came to the realization that father’s day means more to me than most other holidays. Not that it was unimportant to me in the past just that it kinda thumped me over the head this time around.

Youngest graduated high school today. I’m chaperoning the class overnighter. My Father’s Day will likely be spent sleeping.

Parting (pre dad day) thought - this year I came to the realization that father’s day means more to me than most other holidays. Not that it was unimportant to me in the past just that it kinda thumped me over the head this time around.
Interesting as I get older (oldest about to grad, college, youngest grad HS next year) Fathers day means less and less to me. Now as some here know I have unique views on lots of things. Holiday’s / Birthdays are mostly shams to me, I view them as the Church goers, who in the church parking lot after service are beeping horns and cutting off people.
One special day, means less to me than behavior and action the other 364 days. To play lovey dovey for a day, then walk away for the other 364 is insincere.
So today, I’ll probably go visit my Dad, my kids are stopping by for a bit, for the most part just another day. I’ll celebrate being a father, by watching them succeed and fail and struggle and grow and calling me for cheers and tears, and always support.

We’ve spent the last three days traveling around the ancestral stomping grounds and have settled in at Post Falls ID for the day. Will be relaxing and having a great time visiting family. A great Father’s Day indeed.
