Handlebar Tape For Extensions Question

I’m full of questions tonight.

Thanks for derailleur information.

Here’s my second question. This is going to sound really, really ticky and not something I should worry about, but here it is.

I put the same handlebar cork tape on my aero bar extensions. Its rather thick.

This can’t be right.

Now, I would think that, and I have not researched this, but that you would NOT WANT THICKLY taped aero extensions. You would want to make that tape up there very thin, and maybe not use a thick cork or gel tape on the extensions, because the wind would hit it like hitting two small bats; especially if you have your hands on them while you are riding.

So, in taping the aero extensions, because you don’t need much tape, you want: 1. something very thin. 2. something probably cheap.

Here’s what I will throw out. I play tennis, and I was thinking about using a light tennis racquet grip tape for the extensions. Has anybody used that for the aero extensions tape?

I’ve been using hockey stick tape. Nice, grippy, and thin.

I either don’t use any tape, or a thin wrap of electrical tape just to cover the cables. Tape only if there are cables to hide. Electrical tape is also available in lots of nice colours to match your bike.
