Handlebar dropping issue

I have a p2c bike and for years the basebar slowly drops over time. It is the basic basebar by vision that came with the bike. The stem however is the correct size for the bar, and is a ritchey WCS. Has anyone ever had a problem with that stem or that bar slipping? Plus, I have to torque it more than the recommended amount now in order to make sure it stays at the same angle for at least three weeks. If anyone has had these products or this problem, are there any tricks or recommendations that you have to stop this ongoing headache?

Thanks and Happy Tri’s,

Did you try to use some emery cloth to LIGHTLY scuff the surface of the clamp and that of the bar?

DO NOT over torque a bar, if you do over torque it you can possibly disfigure the aluminum clamp…and thusly the bars will always slip in the stem.

Also, it will depend on where your weight is. Fact of the matter is that aero bars are a giant lever and things can move around even when properly adjusted with the way some folks carry their weight on a bike.

I would remove the bolts and reinstall them using the blue colored loc-tite. See if that keeps everything tight.

Try carbon paste, even for AL. Don’t scuff or sand the bars, no sense in making them smaller if they are already slipping. make sure that the stem bolts are evenly tightened. As you tighten one the others may loosen.

Gotta use a diet coke can. You must keep the weight off a P2.
