Did a last minute tune up race; it was stupid, but kind of a local tradition I have done before and never miss. Problem was last few strides of the race I felt a sharp pain in my ham string, and suddenly get shut down. I have my last Olympic distance race Sunday. My main race!!! I was planning on bunch of ice baths and IBU for the next two days.
I have had this before; I can do long runs no problem, I do any kind of fast running and this issue keeps coming up. It’s very frustrating. Had the same injury two months ago and the first few post injury runs after a week were ugly.
Am I screwed for Sunday even if I ice the hell out of it?
I only have three days before the race…
ice is for inflammation, if you have a tear that takes time. You should of seen an ART guy weeks ago.

Did a deep tissue pressure point massage after the injury from a very experienced MT a few months ago, it’s not ART but have always had good luck with injuries from this guy. Did a prerace massage last week, wasn’t any lingering issues when he was working the ham string. Been trying to go back and figure what I did wrong (other than the race), dropping the strength routine for the hamstring seems to top the list.
Icing seems to to help, may not save my race, but I guess the season has to end at some point…
I would not bike or run until sunday, do the race anyway and if you have to stop oh well
