I will be in the Hamptons in New York this weekend. I want to do two long rides (75-125 miles each). Can anyone recommend some routes? Can I stay on the Montauk highway all the way to Montauk? Is that safe for cyclists? Please provide some route ideas. Thanks.
out there for work a lot … montauk hwy is massively congested with the trade parade from 8am to 10:30 and from 2:30 to 6pm … i wouldnt plan a ride around it, however, there are so many great roads out there you will have no problems … i see cyclists all the time on the rural 2 lanes … always wish i had my bike with me!
any specific routes to speak of?
I think if you ride early in the AM, Sunrise Hwy is good. If that is the same as Montauk Hwy, my apologies. I don’t go out there very often.
