Anyone tried any of Hammer’s new electrolyte drink, HEED?
Yes, I’ve been using it the last two weeks or so. It tastes sort of like lemon lime & vanilla…They use stevia extract as the sweetening agent and it is pretty mild compared to other really SWEETdrinks (like cytomax). I used it recently during a long hot run (2hrs) and it seemed to do the trick. BTW it has pretty good electrolyte profile which they say replaces the need for enduralytes (unless you really sweat). Anyway, I like it a bit better than just mixing hammer gel in a water bottle–it’s offers a little more variety and it’s cheap. It’s worth trying for sure. Hope that helps.

How would HEED compare to GA in terms of taste?
I would say HEED taste less distinct than GA. Ther flavor is more subtle, and less sweet.
I just ordered some yesterday. I’ll post more on it when it arrives. I do like Hammergel quite a bit however. I haven’t had any issues with it whatsoever.
Been using Hammer HEED for couple of weeks now on the bike and runs… and even longer swim sets and the long chain carbos and electrolytes are working magic on my legs which tend to cramp up during extended workouts, races specially if its hot out…good stuff and I think better tasting the Gatorade and certainly better balance of electrolytes than Gatorade. good stuff as far as I’m concerned and I’ve tried a few including the G Push which I find too sweet and makes me wanna gag sometimes…
finally got my HEED shipment a couple of days ago and I like it. Not my favorite flavoring I have to admit but once you get used to it it’s pretty good. Definetely milder than most other brands, ie cytomax, gatorade, accelerade. Kinda neat how it’s just clear in the bottle too. I’ll be using it in conjunction with Perpetuem and Hammer Gel. Probably start taking HEED on shorter rides as it’s cheaper than Perpetuem.
