Hammer (e-caps) HEED

I noticed Hammer (e-caps) has a new product called HEED. It looks like a simple energy drink without the crappy sugar…basically their version of gatorade, etc…no protein, probably intended for shorter sessions…

Anybody know about or use it – and any comments opinions…

Thanks.

P.S. I used Hammer Gel and Sustained energy last year…had some trouble with SE, but the Gels were fine.

I have never liked the taste of Hammer products, but I tried HEED yesterday for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Finally I can use a product from what has always seemed to me to be a great company.

A dissenting view, from someone who is a Hammer lover (use Hammer Gel and Endurolytes).

Planned for only water and gel on the run at my first half 2 weeks ago, but decided to try the Heed near the end of the race (it was what they were serving).

Yuck. Hated the taste. And it wasn’t just my race taste buds…my fiancee, who loves sports drinks tried some while she was waiting for me, and said the same thing.

I love HEED. I really like the taste - not too sweet or overpowering. Most importantly I really like the name - when I first saw the name all I could think of is Mike Myers movie So I Married An Axe Murderer, “HEED MOVE NOW” “Look at the poor boy, his head is like an orange on a popsicle stick”. Yesterday I got a flyer from Hammer Nutrition and it said they got the name from the movie - NICE!

Just finished my first 32 serving container and I am ordering more. This stuff has a great taste. I also like the consistency of their gel. Easier to disolve in one mouthful of water than most other brands. Lots of great products from this company.

Can’t comment on the HEED yet, but their gels, vitamin pills and the Endurolytes have always treated me very well. Good people to deal with!

HEED is the best, takes a bit to get used to but you quickly get addicted. Just did my first big race on HEED and it was the best race of my life (must be the HEED)!

Tried a sample and found it very clean and fresh in the mouth, no aftertaste at all and not too sweet, you could drink it all day… if not for the taste!! Maybe it’s an acquired taste but first impression wasn’t great. My distributor said they have another flavour coming out he wasn’t too impressed either, I think I had the lemon-lime. If they worked on the taste it would be great compared to the syrupy sweet taste of gatorade etal. I use their Perpetuem, Hammer Gel, Endurolytes and find them to be great products at a reasonable price. A similar product that I use now is e-load that comes with “Zone Caps” which are like endurolytes which allow you to customize the base formula for electrolytes depending on your sweat profile and race day temp. It is also very clean tasting not sweet and is sweetened with dextrose not fructose or sucrose which are high glycemic.

I like HEED, but it and Perpetum did take some time to get use to. Actually a few weeks.

I used HEED at last weekends race, and like Tai had a great personal race - but since Tai beat me by many minutes I guess I need to add a few more spoon fulls
