Halloween Candy

We are that house on the block. The house is lit up .. like a Christmas tree. It’s absurd, truth be told. My wife goes bonkers, but nothing really scary. She likes the more cartoony stuff. Nothing that scares the little ones.

We give out the usual fare. We have a few big bags of assorted candy from Costco. If memory serves, we got around a hundred T-o-Ters last year. We live across the street from an elementary school and there are tons of kids in the neighborhood … they all see our crib daily and they all want to come by on Halloween,

This year, my wife had a plan for us (me) to put out decorations slowly. We started on October 1 with one thing, and added 1-2 per day. The kids caught on and would come by daily to see what we added. We put up the last decoration yesterday.

Tell your wife she’s a genius. My younger kid and I do a neighbourhood drive every day after dropping his brother off. We LOVE to see what’s new/different. (and we are always on the search for dogs out walking)

I buy a case of Reese’s at Smart and Final.

On Halloween, I turn off all of the lights and eat the Reese’s.

This was from a few days ago. We added a few more yesterday including a 5 foot tall Taylor Swift skeleton.

Nice! But wouldn’t TS’s skeleton look like any other, more or less?

While my favorites are Reese’s and Milky Way Dark, I usually get the rejects from my kids which are Butter Fingers, Almond Joys and Whoppers. I am okay with that. I know some kids like butter Fingers and Whoppers, but I don’t think I have ever met anyone under 20 who like Almond Joys.

The candy industry is using cocoa prices as way to raise prices for profit when most candies don’t use real chocolate anymore, but artificial things such as hydrogen bombed motor oils and ppgr

Pretty much but with showgirl flair.

Fun that you guys do that! And that kids get a kick out of it too.

Do you also do that at Xmas time? (Pls post a pic later too, if so)..

We do but not quite the same level. We decorate a lot more inside for Christmas.

Reminds me of this snippet…
Clearly obese person claims that they’re not fat, “Just big boned”.
Response was “But I’ve never seen a fat skeleton”.

I’m an Aussie so we don’t have much in the way of Halloween. Trick or treating isn’t really a thing, at least not in my sketchy neighbourhood, but there are usually a few parties about.
I do miss North American Halloween though, and all the fall stuff. We don’t get halfway as excited about seasons here, mostly because ours are just “beach weather” and "not beach weather :frowning: "

I’m more of a gummy candy person, preferably the sour variety. I also like mint aeros and smarties, which are conveniently the ones everyone else leaves behind.

milky way midnight is my fave… and mounds

we will get 0 trick or treaters

reeses are chalky PB and cheap chocolate

get on TJ dark PB cups your life will change

100 grand, skittles, snickers are all favorites.

we have maybe 100 kids and the wife gets a couple mixed bags of the standard favs.

the real question is - yes or no to candy corn :joy:

My wife hates it. I’m fine with it.

This is correct

So very good

Yes. Those or Justin’s dark chocolate PB cups.

We’re expecting between 400 and 600 kids stopping by. Just having a party in the driveway. A little bit of everything, probably 5 big (200+) bags of what ever we found at BJ’s

Inside the fence is a graveyard and a grave digger

Justin’s dark are amazing. We’ve gone through so many bags of the minis. Stash them on the inside of the fridge door and they’re just addictive.

So expensive though.

I am humbled

This is ours; we had a display light to fill in upstairs, but it burnt out, and I elected not to replace this year
