Greetings 'twitchers…
I’ve been considering doing the half-ironman in Hualtulco, Mexico in November. I’ve been to the website and seen the topo maps. I’ve done the Wildflower Half, Vineman Half, Eagleman Half so I’m wondering who out there in Slowtwitchia may have done both Huatulco and one of the others and how they compare.

A friend did WF and Huatulco last year - he said Huatulco was much harder/slower - both course and heat. I can ask him more if you like…but the pro’s can break 4 hours at WF and Ralphs. Vineman is a 3:50 course. I thought Eagleman was fast, too. Winner at Huatulco goes a lot slower than 4 - when the pro’s go much slower than 4 - us mortals are in deep/deep trouble. Although I think it would be a fun course/destination…

I was wondering about this too. All I see is the ITU in Huatalco or how ever you spell it. But it says it’s on Olympic.
In the new Triathlete Mag they advertise a Half Ironman in Cancun on Oct 23. I can’t find proof of this anywhere on the net…
Huatulco is a great race but it is quite difficult. Macca laughed at me when I won it in 4:24 and then he barely won it in about the same time. It is hilly and it can be brutally hot but is a great destination race and I would recommend it to anyone who wanted to add a little vacation to a race.
