Half IM in June

I need to do a half IM late june, preparing for Lake Placid. I live in Cincinnati and would like to keep it close. I am training for IM Lake Placid… What I found so far is a race in Efffingham, Illinois and the Half Max in Innsbrook, Missouri. Has anyone done any of these? How is the course? How hard to get to the race? Any others races suggestions in that time frame? I looked into Tupper Lake, but that involves more travel… I would be going by myself as well, I would like a fun one!

Saint Louis has one !

I was planning on the HalfMax until recently. From what I understand the run course is very, very hilly. Elevation charts are on their website. The group that puts on the HalfMax seems to have a pretty good rep.

I’ll be flying up from TX to do the Effingham tri (Effingham is 20’ from Grandpa’s house). I don’t have any good information for you other than I made a c-trainer course and found that it has very slight rolling hills for most of the course. The bike is a straight line out and back. The run is also a straight line out and back along the bike course.

I think you should join a few of us at Tin Man in Baraboo Wi on the 18th!!!

Buffalo Springs in Lubbock, TX on June 20th. Kona qualifier. Hot and dry, but very well run, fun race.

It’s not quite June, but the Little Smokies 1/2 in on May 30, and is very close to you in Portsmouth. Muskoka, up in Ontario is just short of a 1/2, and is a beautiful race.

I’m doing HFP Racing’s Little Smokies Half on May 30 as an early season tune up for IMLP. It is early, but I am just looking for something to get me into racing mode. PLus its just a few hour drive for me (from Cleveland), and I suppose even closer from Cincinnati.

I went back and forth on little smokies forever… But I did the Flying Pig marathon, TOSRV and now Godzulla this week-end and have Lake Placid training camp first week in june, coach thought it was a bit much… How far from St-Louis is the Halfmax or Ultramax? I typed in Innsbrook in mapquest and it doesn’t recognize the city…

I am doing the Aurora High Cliff 1/2 IM in Appleton, WI on June 20.

They are advertising Dave Scott and Heather Gollnick as participants. Much of it takes place in a state park, I think.

I had registered for Halfmax, but I became concerned about getting injured on all the run hills before Moo.

How hard is it to get there? What airport is near? I don’t think I can drive more than 4 hours by myself!

I’m headed to St. Louis for a wedding/Ultramax from Dallas. After doing Degray Lake Half in AR. a couple times, the hills can’t be any worse than there. Bring em’ on!

Distance from St. Louis Lambert Field to Innsbrook roughly 25-30 miles. I’m staying St. Peters, which is only about 15 mins. away.

Their are many practice sessions there. The run is hilly. Very Hilly. You will never find a better organized race!

Tupper Lake would be out anyway, since it sold out months ago. I did it last year and it didn’t close until about 2 months out. This year it sold out in Jan. or Feb.

Make that one more race that you have to plan for a year in advance. It is a good race, though, and a lot of people us it as a tune-up race for IMLP.

See you in Lake Placid.(I had to stop saying “See you in nine weeks!” because I was freaking myself out.)

It is closest to Green Bay. But it is probably 2 hours from Milwaukee and Madison (which is where I will be coming from).

I actually in Baraboo and am doing the 1/2 IM there on June 19- It is going to be a great race with a few hills and some trail running!! **Record10ti **: i’ll see ya there!!

where is Baraboo and how hard is it to get to?

Baraboo is one hour away from Madison WI which has an airport- also nearby are the infamous Wisconsin Dells. Or it is 2.5 hours from Milwakee or 3.5 hours from the Twin Cities.

i rode the course two days ago-

They say the couse is like Ironman Wisconsin. How hilly are we talking?

Also, they’re talking about warm water. They say mid- to upper-70’s. Is the swim in a swamp? What lake in Wisconsin is mid- to upper-70’s in mid-June?
