Anyone participated in this and have any tips? A search of the forum didn’t turn up much, but this looks like a pretty good venue. I’m assuming that the bike has a lot of climbing.
I lived in Pesaro (1/2 hour drive South) 25 years ago. It was fantastic bike venue at that time. I have ridden most of south Emilia-Romagna and nearly the entire Le Marche Region, as I have returned a few times in order to visit friends who live between Rimini and Pesaro.
If the swim is in the Adriatic, that will be terrific as well.
As much as I love triathlon, and would love to compete there – the trip I believe should be reserved for road riding. I have a currently dormant bike touring company there.

I have done this race nor been to the region in close to 20 years but I second with this post. Rimini is a great location for a race as well as most any other coastal city along the Adriatic. The waters are typically calm and cool, scenery is beautiful and friendly people. One cannot go wrong with this location, in my opinion.
Thanks both, feedback is much appreciated. I live a little north of the area and have heard good things about the race, but it sounds as though the bike route has been changed a couple times. Will also be hoping for good weather since the race was moved to early May.
I’m thinking about partecipating in this race. Rimini is my home town and it would be perfect for my first Triathlon. The Bike route is fantastic and very scenic, the whole area is a cycling paradise.
I’m still not 100% sure if I will race as my swim time is still very high (1 hour for the 1.2 miles in open water…); I would definitely make it before the cut off but looking at last year results I would be 20 minutes behind the last one in the swim part!
Did you do this race in the end?
I’m really interested to hear how people coped with the bike leg, it looks slow on the results sheets!
I’m heading there in a week and a bit for the ETU middle distance champs, and am trying to work out how much over my power target to go for the first half and how on earth I’m going to keep close to my power target in the second half in what looks like around 30k of descent!
If Macca managed a 2:28 in 2013, I think I need to revise my target of a 2:25 split!
Yeah I ended up doing the race. Swim was pretty uneventful outside of the water still being pretty cold that time of year. The bike leg was great, the first half has one legit climb up to Montegrimano. Don’t be fooled though, most of the first 45k you’ll be climbing. The second half is pretty fast for the most part which gives your legs a chance to recover. The roads are a bit beat up in spots which you will feel on the decent and I had a really hard time keeping my power up. There is one more small climb around Croce before finishing, into the wind normally, along the seafront. The course is closed to traffic and the local support was great.
You’ll have to be pretty careful not to overcook on the first half, I saw a lot of people struggling on the run especially as the day warmed up. I’d definitely try and pre-ride the course. There is a little traffic that time of year but lots of others will be out.
