Don’t forget the majority of republicans voted against Hagel. Only four 'pub voted for him, that says something when your own party doesn’t vote for you. Hagel was a sacrificial lamb from the start.
But Hagel is a decent man. I guess when you are surrounded by the political sycophants from the campaigns, political hacks with nefarious agendas like Holder, Kerry and the list goes on. It is only a matter of time before you are asked to leave, or leave to save your sanity.

Lets see Forge, when he was appointed, you and your ilk hated him because he was 100% with Obama (i think Obama’s ball washer might have been used) and wanted to end all the wars, the hawks hated him. Now he is quitting most likely because he still wants to end all the wars, but now you defend him. Which is it? Of course we all know here that whatever side Obama is on, you are against, even if it was your position before and now. You hawks should be circle jerking from Obamas latest actions, escelating our involvement over there, but your hate just runs so deep that even when he does what you and your party want, you cannot accept it.

This is made up political theater. Presidents generally get their cabinets and I cannot think of a single thing that Hagel has done that would disqualify him. I was listening to Hannity and when Juan Williams mentioned that Hagel was conservative, Hannity corrected him. When conservative votes were mentioned, Hannity had to back track that Hagel isn’t conservative on the right things like foreign policy. In otherwords he isn’t a neocon in favor of endless war, spreading US hedgemony, and occupation. At what point did being the worlds police force become a conservative idea?
So yes, while there’s lots of hypocrisy to go around, Forge has been consistent. Maybe you owe him an apology.

The Marine Corps has drawn a line in the sand with their Infantry Officer’s Course physical standards. I’m sure Dunford won’t pull any punches when asked his opinion. Not sure what the other service chiefs will do, but Flournoy may move this agenda item forward.
Hagel disagreed with Obama policy in some of the difficult ares, and has recently become vocal with it. This admin does not like anyone disagreeing with their inner circle, and if you do it publicly your time is short. The latter part is understandable, the part that the admin does not really like or take dissenting opinion once the insiders make a decision is seriously troubling, but not at all new.

Not going to happen … she is a professional wth integrity and is well respected … i.e. way too smart to serve as SecDef for Obummer.
Might be a few folks who decline the position. Really, most will understand this is a position without much power, except to implement policies with which they may have serious disagreements. Given how much of a failure this admin has been to date in foreign policy, I don't see where anyone but an ignorant sycophantic political crony would take it. Anyone who wanted a high profile position to help their political career would probably pass because it may tie them to what looks like a new level of epic fail, and those who would be earnest in the nuts and bolts don't want a position where their input and expertise is trumped by the inner circle making FP decisions that are primarily politically and ideologically driven.
