Anyone out there ride on these - habcycles.com - looks like good deal - especially just the frames.

Any thoughts?

rec.bicycles.tech has many threads on this and the owner frequents the usenet group as well - Mark Hickey I think. They are made in China and seem to have a pretty good following and the support from Hickey seems decent - if someone was mistreated they would be on usenet pretty quick. The warranty last time I checked is only three years.

I can’t remember exactly but I think Airbourne is also made in China.

I’ve used the lifetime warranty on my Litespeeds at the seven and ten year mark. YMMV.

I ride with a guy who has one in road geometry. He likes it very much. I’ve taken a short spin on it and found it lively and solid. If I were in the market for either a road or a triathlon bike, it would be well up my list.

I raced a Habanero for three years and I think they make great bikes. It's a smooth handling, very stable ride. Check the geometry. They have long wheelbases and very shallow head tube. This adds up to a bicycle that rides like it's on rails but still turns on a dime from the aerobars. The Ti ride is sweet. It was a nice change from my QR Kilo, which handled like crap. I still have the Habanero. It's now equiped with drop bars, STI, and shortie aerobars and I use it for rodie group rides. The way I have the seat it's now a 76 degree road bike and it still handles great.

If you are anywhere near Long Island, come over and ride it sometime.

Hey thanks guys - I appreciate the feedback. Wish I was near Long Island. I’m in Claremont CA now studying the wonders of Japanese Literature and South East Asian Politics.

… but the riding is fantantastic - and I can almost see the spiritual aura given off by our leader Dan from the hills up north.
