Ha - knew all along that SRAM was good stuff

Even Slowman agrees. When first started using it some of the roadies wanted to know why I wasn’t using real components. Not just the Campy guys. Even the ShimaNO riders looked down their noses.

the article talks about how complex and cost prohibitive it is to build a cogset: while I am definitely a newbie in terms of bike mechanics etc. this took me completely by surprise, does anybody know of a site/page that talks more about this (in terms of WHY it’s hard to build a cogset and what are the issues related to shifting etc. etc.)?

This page will give a bit of insite into the cog making process-

When I took manufacturing methods in college we toured the Lufkin Gear works- It was quite a specatcle. Gear & cog making are far more complex than it would appear.

As much as some of that stuff costs it better be nice.
Of course anti-style is rarely cheap.
