Special Olympics. There but for the grace of God go we. More heart than all of us put together. Same desire, same spirit, same drive and love of sport–different, cruel, heartbreaking “limiters”. Lots of charities are worthy causes, it just strikes me that this one might find a place in our hearts, because it is akin to our own endeavors.
From time to time we say “Hey give the proceeds to charity”, or whatever. I would like to suggest that maybe we give consideration to this one.
Special Olympics: The Special Interest of The Peaceful Tribe.
I have thought about that lately, and I know their is the foundation for disabled athletes, but is their a charity that helps out veterans specifically. I thought about this last year when I was driving back from Buffalo Springs. There are alot of Vets that are coming back with missing limbs that still want to compete in their respective sports. Besides the VA which would most likely only supply a prosthetic to get around on, is their a charity that helps out the Vets to compete?

If anyone knows of one, please let me know.
Great idea here.
I like the way you think Monk.
So does my shrink…well “fascinated” may be a better word. At the end of our first session I asked her “How many psychiatrists does it take to roof a house?” She said “How many?”, and I said, “It depends on how thin you slice 'em.” She asked to be re-assigned.
I don’t want to take anything away from the brave men and women that fight for freedom, but, did we not agree to a worldwide charity? Especially since the founding idea and effort came from Gibraltar?
This is why the Charity should be established in advance, whatever it is.
Personally–I would not want the United Nations to get it. It would be meaningless to them, they are corrupt (Oil for Food Program), and the money would be spent on buying $500.00 dinners for effete snobs in New York City.
I probably should have just posted as a new question. I did not intend for this charitable idea to take any steam away from whatever charity the group decides to support. It was just something I have been kicking around, but I have not acted on. Special Olympics is a great cause.
