Guy Q re: wallets

What do you guys carry your money in?

I traded in nice leather bifold wallets ages ago for money clips as I did not want to sit on a wallet anymore (good advice from a chiropractor friend of mine). I’ve had two metal clips that held money in the clip and credit cards on the other side, and now I bought a leather billfold clip that hold cards in pockets and money in a clip, but it is too thick to be comfortable in my jeans pocket or my suit jacket.

I’ve carried a regular wallet in my hip pocket since getting the same chiropractic advice. I’ve come to hate pants without slanted hip pockets though; its impossible to take the wallet out while seated.

I’ve been using this one from Coach for years - http://www.coach.com/content/product.aspx?product_no=8640&category_id=53. First one lasted 8+ years. I just picked up another one. Its designed for business cards to go in the middle section but you can use it for cash instead. Plus enough room to hold another 4-6 plastic cards in the sides. Even with all that it still remains very slim.

I have used a metal clip for 10+ years (got it as a wedding party gift). I fold the paper bills in half around my credit/ATM card/drivers license. Works pretty well. Unless I am carrying lots of bills, then the whole stack gets pretty thick. But how often does a guy carry around 15-20 different bills? In my case, not very often.

I use a regular billfold wallet. When I want to sit down I simply take it out of my back pocket and put it in my front pocket. If it won’t fit there you need to buy yourself a purse  Seriously though–you do say that it is uncomfy in your jeans pocket. Are you just sitting? And it’s still bothering you? My wallet is thicker than most (not due to monetary content) and it’s not too bad for me. I got a friend from Brooklyn that carries his thick-ass wallets in his front pocket so he doesn’t get pick-pocketed. I tried the money clips but I found that there were just too many things I wanted to carry with me at all times–health insurance, dental, car insurance, license, various member cards, student ID, etc… Good luck with whatever you decide.

I also use a COACh wallet…its a bifold and pretty thin. I hate things being in my front pockets so a money clip is out of the question. I like the coach and have had it for 12 years plus now. A wallet is not that bad as long as you keep it streamlined…keep unwanted junk out of it and you’ll be good to go.

My current contents…
120.00 in various bills…(larger bills work better as they are less clutter)
drivers license
insurance card (health)
a fours week old check made out to me I just have not had the time to cash

anything else is like camping with a pop-up. Anything more than a pocket knife, canteen and fire starter and you might as well get a hotel.

Dude, join the 90s – nobody carries wallets, cash, or credit cards anymore. Embrace the paperless age! Stop living in the past man.

I use a trifold. It’s not the money that makes mine fat, but the cards, cards, and more cards. Credit, Sams, Blockbuster, drivers license, USAT, insurance.

If I’m out for the evening, I just fold my bills in half, put my cc and DL in the middle, and clip with one of those hour-glass type paper clips. Yes folks, I use a paperclip.

I keep my main wallet in the car or briefcase, but usually don’t carry it in my pocket, as like others, I’ve gotten to where I don’t like the feel of it in my back pocket – too thick.

I use the same Eddie Bauer wallet my wife gave me as a wedding gift, well 11 years ago friday.

IMO, wallets are like wedding bands, they mean more when they have some “character” (i.e., flaws, worn sports, etc).

I don’t carry any cash or pictures. Any business cards I would carry are in my planner/organizer/briefcase/thingy, so my wallett essentially carries my check/credit card, DL, Social Security Card, and receipts to be entered into MS Money.

Cash - by itself in my front pocket or in a regular single-fold wallet. Stopped carrying a wallet in my back pocket years ago - and it’s GREAT! Wallet stays in my car, desk drawer, or lunch bag. If I need to take it in somewhere, I’ll carry it or put it in a front pocket.

I still use the george costanza model full of receipts from 1994. like this one.

!(file:///Users/gb/Desktop/story-wallet1.jpeg)in all seriousness though, I use a money clip type of wallet that has a slot for credit cards, ID, etc.

The money clip is the way to go but I am still a fan of the chain wallet. One time I met a guy who had one that said “Fuck Communism” on it in red letters. I am still looking for one like it. It speaks from my heart.

My wife got this for me a few years ago. I remember it seemed like a real good deal for the quality.
usually back pocket as I wear slacks, if i wear jeans i often put it up front. I carry one of each business and personal credit and debit cards. medical card. a couple of pictures of the kids. dl, usually a couple bucks. hunting and fishing licenses, and it really is rather thin. not much thicker than just the cards. i just don’t like the money clip idea. i want to carry more than cash i guess.

got me on a good day. i actually have more than 4 bucks!!!

Wallet in bag pocket except when in big cities traveling, where I put in front pocket. Reason for wallet, and Biggest PIA, is carrying business receipts since if they are not enlosed and just in the pocket they fade ro carbon rubs off. Maybe we should carry the manbag Joey had on Friends?

I also switched to wallet in front pocket after visit to Chiro. I only have two credit cards, very little cash and a couple of other things I keep in it so it is not at all bothersome in front.

http://i2.ebayimg.com/01/i/06/50/39/46_1_bo.JPGthis thing is the shit…search for ‘steinhausen money clip’ on ebay or froogle. silver or bling bling gold. holds plenty and fits in the front pocket.

That’s pretty much the same thing I had, but my cash clip was not hinged, it was bent so that the tension of the curve kept things n the clip. Ultimately that bent metal is what failed and caused me this frustration.

Thanks for the tip. I’m going to order that Steinhausen clip.
