I’ve got two buddies running in it and their transition times after run and bike, they take in excess 4 minutes. They are not doing well at all. Is it windy or something?
Is there a run up to transition. Why all the long transition times?> Just cuious. There’s some quick transition times but a lot of very long ones. What’s the architecture to transition.
Here are some of the slowtwitchers out there today:
12 48 KEVIN GROGAN 31 CLERMONT FL 10 28:42 4 2:07 48 2:32:04 22.1 27 3:02:52 3 1:08 4 1:31:32 7:00 4:35:30
48 154 FRANK REHNELT 38 MEMPHIS TN 73 34:50 59 3:27 66 2:34:03 21.8 62 3:12:18 103 2:52 33 1:41:09 7:44 4:56:18
109 0 TIM SAVIELLO (Southern Tim) 37 ATLANTA GA 69 34:37 68 3:32 141 2:54:56 19.2 135 3:33:04 108 3:02
.
i did it in 2003 and the run up to transition was a little long–maybe 300m? i don’t remember if the mat was at the beach or the entrance to transition. i don’t know about windy, but when i did it the weather was hot as HELL. no wind, just pure heat. the run thru the neighborhoods is pretty rough if you’re not used to the heat. the bike is pancake flat excpet for a tiny rise on a bridge. the heat might be gettin’ to them.
Here is a great name:
1 25 RICHARD NIXON 40 COCONUT CREEK FL 22 31:25 12 2:37 1 2:17:53 24.4 1 2:51:54 4 1:24 2 1:32:58 7:06 4:26:15
.
They are usually 5:15ish-5:20, and they decided to go down there and basically wing that race, fly down there the night before the race, do the race, fly back, with very little prep. Just you know, let’s go! We can do this. Let’s go.
Damn, that Melissa Russell is one fast girl to clip off 1:56 miles and beat out Gollnick.
Another twitcher. Also of fame with Bicycle Sports and Blackwell:
167 0 DAVE BUNCE 31 TYLER TX 78 36:21 46 3:08 8 2:21:30 23.7 20 3:00:59
Still has the run to go at the time these splits were posted. I wonder what kind of bike he is riding and what his position.
Dave sold me my first set of racing wheels at the 1996 Powerman Alabama. A set of Hed Jets.
It’s a pretty typical set up for the area. Mat’s close to where you come out of the Gulf and then a decent run to get from the beach to transition.
Great job by the timing crew, and thanks for the help when I spazzed out and left my chip in the car. (Which the sherpa was off parking God Knows Where)
311 JILL GILLHAM 32 NICEVILLE FL 97 37:26 158 3:57 323 3:20:00 16.8 277 4:01:23 205 2:55 330 2:55:35 13:25 6:59:52
And yes there was a spastic, last gasp sprint to the line for me because a 6 in front looks so much better than a 7. Note to self: I’m just not good enough to pull off a 1/2 IM two months after a marathon and havve both work like I’d like. And I really should have gotten in the pool more than six times since January 1.
Wow, 2nd place female ran 1/2 marathon in 25 min, thats gotta be some type of record.
KJGrog is a stud. He’ll probably race IM next week.
This is the mind boggling result
1 9 JEFF CUDDEBACK 46 LONGWOOD FL 2 26:09 1 1:59 1 2:17:03 24.5 1 2:45:11 6 1:24 2 1:29:20 6:50 4:15:54
8th Overall, would have been 4th Pro at age 46!
Here is a great name:
1 25 RICHARD NIXON 40 COCONUT CREEK FL 22 31:25 12 2:37 1 2:17:53 24.4 1 2:51:54 4 1:24 2 1:32:58 7:06 4:26:15
FYI he’s a VERY good triathlete, from Ft Lauderdale. Has qualified for Kona (more than once?), and a really good bloke.
Cheers
Barry
