I usually run my amp pretty clean. It isn’t a high gain amp anyway.
In order on my board.
Compressor - evens out volume differences without adding distortion. Useful for chord/melody things.
Super fuzz. Does fuzz.
Tuner. Cuz I have wooden ears. I don’t love this one, it seems to have a hard time deciding what the note is. but it works. I’ll upgrade eventually.
Joyo Sweet baby overdrive. A nice low gain overdrive. Sometimes I’ll use it as a volume attenuator, the P-90’s on my Casino are way hotter than the Strat.
Boss SD1 - classic overdrive. IMO a better tube screamer. Has the mid hump of a tube screamer, but I think it has more clarity. This was my first pedal, about 15 years ago.
Boss IR-2. Amp/cab sim. Mostly for silent practice, but will also get closeish to other classic amp sounds through my tube amp. The rest of the chain goes into the IR-2 effects loop. I have the cab sim turned off going into the amp, but it’s still on through headphones. Has a USB connection for backing tracks from or recording to my phone (I think I’ve only used that once)
Flamma MOD pedal. A bunch of modulation effects. Most of which I’ll never use (why do I need an 8-bit emulation?) but the tremolo is nice.
Azor delay
Caline ghost rain reverb delay. My latest infatuation is running the delay into a delay for ambient tones.
Boss RC-1 looper. Good basic looper. I’d like to upgrade this eventually to a dual track looper with rhythms, but I’m still plenty occupied with the capabilities of this.
No boutique gear. I just find the Boss pedals to be so good, if it’s something I know I’ll use for a long time then I’ll just get the Boss version of whatever it is. The non-boss pedals are only there because they’re cheap and I wanted to see what they do.
Let me know how the JHS signal attenuator works. I tried an Amazon version of it through the effects loop of my amp, and it was so noisy it was completely unusable. Sent it back 5 minutes after plugging it in.
I like the idea, but apparently some amps take those better than others.
Just another plug for Behringer. Their TU300 is pretty decent, and cheap. Chromatic tuning, or standard tuning with options for drop tunings (flat and double flat) for both 6 string and 4 string bass. Maybe $30 or so online.
Same construction as the Super Fuzz, so you don’t want to stomp on it all the time, but other than that it’s great.
I only need chromatic tuning. I’ve had headstock tuners that have tuning options for guitar, bass. Uke, and it always seems to be on the wrong one. Now I just use chromatic. Also, my kids are learning ukelele in a non standard tuning (basically a standard tuned guitar with a capo at the 7th fret) so chromatic is essential for them
I don’t think I would get the Behringer, mostly because an upgrade there is really about speed of tuning plus build quality. I dont expect to ever buy another one. And the Amazon pedal works. It’s just a bit slow.
Tuner also functions as a mute switch, so it does get stomped on a lot.
So the attenuator is f’ing awesome! It has actually doubled my expectations!
I crank the amp to 3, and I’ve got a fat knob that I can spin about 180 degrees to go from completely quiet to plenty loud, with an extra half turn to pump it up to the full #3 at 100 watts.
Having said that, I have no other effects in the FX loop, so I can’t tell you how that would work.
