Don’t you love it when an awesome new toy arrives at your front door? I’m so excited!!!

Guess what it is? (I’m going for a swim and will give an update later…not that I’ll use it when swimming…)

Is there bubble wrap? Packages are no fun unless there is bubble wrap to pop.
Okay, I’m curious. What is in the box? And what’s your swim workout? Ooooh swimming!!!
looks to be about the right size for a snorkel?
did you get one with the water stopper ball on top?
no, but now I gotta go swim. It’s not for the first of the three triathlon sports…so keep guessing.
Newtons
.
ok…lots of packages of Doublemint to help you dream about twins on the run?
a new doormat?
A blow up Ted McGregor doll and 2 bottles of Lubriderm?
Oh sorry, that was the package on BottomFeeder’s doorstep, not yours.
Twins? wow…did you say twins?
hey, our cat loves that doormat and you mess with him and his claws will show you a new meaning of pain.
PEDs and two 24 packs of syringes?
No Newtons. And for those that wonder how much I swam: 0 yrds. Pool closed from the 6th to the 9th. Great…But even that couldn’t get me down.
I just got:

I absolutely LOVE my Powercranks. Those are for my Tri bike and I will race on them for shorter races this fall. Running of PC’s is a totally awesome feeling and for that reason I got the Xlites so that I can race on them. On my road bike I’ve ridden up to 6hrs45 on them so I have some base. Now it’s all about adapting on my tri bike so that will be a little bit of a challenge. And I have to throw more intensity into my PC rides. But the body is very adaptable, so it’s just a matter of time. I’m so excited!!!
I raced PCs like those for a couple of years until I started doing some testing to see what happened. My observation was that I did consistently run off the bike faster than when using regular cranks, but I lost a lot of time on the bike. These were short (21K) efforts followed by 3 mile runs and I regularly rode 45-90 seconds slower (using PCs) and ran 2-20 seconds faster.
I’ll caveat this by saying that I did not do a lot of high rpm drills and perhaps the PC muscles just could not keep up. If you are going to race them then I suggest using a metronome or some such device to allow you to work up to the necessary rpm.
I still train on them on the tri bike with about 18 cm of drop, so you can work your way down and ride them that way, but it is a long and painful process.
When I switch back to a regular crankset I can really spin up hills by concentrating on pulling and then I can relax on the downhills and spin easy before the next climb. It worked pretty well for me at the Devil Dog duathlon and the World’s Toughest Half.
I’m always paranoid about breaking a clutch in a race, so I was just as happy to go back to racing on regular cranks.

Dude do you think you could make those pics a bit bigger ? I just cant quite get the gist of what’s goin’ on…
Yes I love packages too…I am an ebay attic and need a 12 step program for it!! I order so many packages that when they arrive I have to take time to guess what it is!!! It’s like Christmas year round and I am making up for my mediocre childhood.
But what is in the box???
sorry, I thought they were smaller but it didn’t quiet work out that way. I guess I have to resize prior to posting, otherwise it wont work. sorry about that.
Where is the package with the pedal holder inserts? Did we forget to put those in (it has happened before)? Or, is this a (as happens a lot on TV) a reenactment? And, those lock-up rings kill me for anyone who has ridden 6:45 on PC’s.
Frank
Have you ever been stranded a long way from home with a broken clutch? If I could retrofit mine, I would do it in a heartbeat.
Even worse are those days when the PC muscles just give out an hour out from the house and you have to limp in. Nothing makes me hate cycling more than those rides. Except maybe 40mph winds like today.

If this turns into another power crank slam session I am going to be pissed. And, Frank, you know it will…I wish people would leave you alone about your freaking product. But, hey, you are getting famous because of it and probably selling more!hahahhaah

Nah, this will die quickly. He hasn’t made any claims of improvement, just that he, apparently, likes them. Only when someone claims that the cranks come close to doing what I claim they do do the naysayers attack and keep the threads alive. Whether these sell more product is debatable. Hardly more than 200 people ever see any of these threads and most of them either already have their cranks or are deadset against ever getting them. Few are in between and “potentially” gullible to my guerrilla marketing campaigns. ![]()
