Grooms Cake

Alright guys… the most wonderful man in the world and love of my life asked me to marry him (yippee!).

He also is an Ironman finisher a couple of times over (so am I… one of the main reasons we “get” each other but thats besides the point). I want to come up with an awesome grooms cake. Any ideas besides just a big M-dot?

Congrats! That is awesome.

I have no idea what a grooms cake is… but I do know a little bit about cakes in general (yum yum)! You can have a photo scanned and printed in sugar on the cake (most bakeries offer this). It is a fun way to customize it…

Best wishes to you both!

The grooms cake is something the bride presents to the groom that is usually very funny or very specific to him or his interests. NOT a set of tits or anything sexual. The last wedding I was at the grooms cake was a poker table. Kinda cool.

Make it look like a zipp disc wheel or a tri spoke?

How about a speedo?

Build a cake from Cliff Bars, glued together with vanilla Cliff Shots.

eeeewwwwwww. That’s just nasty.

(when i went to Aconcagua in January, I took with me 2 clif bars per day. It will be a very long time before I will be able to eat another one.)

You could have three small cakes made, one to represent each leg of the tri.

Swim - Waves, open water, goggles

Bike - A cake designed to look like his bike helmet.

Run - A cake designed to look like his favorite running shoes.

A good cake designer can do about anything if they have a good photo or the item itself.

I have some friends who are big College Football fans and they got groom’s cakes made in the shape of their school’s stadium.

Ironman logo on cake.

Buy him a tubular zipp disc wheel and tape a cup cake on it. He will love you more and more with each passing PR!!! Maybe top with cupcake with groom and best man.

Make it manly. Two layer yellow cake with choclate frosting. Simple and fantastic.

Way to go on the wedding!

Congrats and many happy years!

I’ve always wanted to see a cake of rice crispy treats (God’s most perfect food)…you could shape it like a wetsuit…or one of his finishers medals…

I would do the atomic symbol for iron with the atomic weights and all that… just like in the periodic table.

This is what my wife gave me- we got married one year ago this past march-

Ok, I got married In Michigan 13 yrs ago. I have never heard of a groom’s cake.

Where do they do this, when did it start, and why did I not get a cake!!!

It started as a southern tradition. VERY common in the south still and is catching on elsewhere because it’s (sometimes) a decision the groom is allowed to make, or a gesture of affection from the bride.

It’s usually set up in a different part of the room so as not to take attention away from the REAL cake. The menfolk often gather and watch the dancing from a safe distance armed with beer and groom’s cake.

Seen plenty of groom’s cakes (including my wedding) but never heard of the theme thing. I’m thinking a guy would like a pound cake… three tiers… bottom tier colored bluish-green with swimmy people decorations around it, the next tier grayish with bikey people, and the top tier brownish-green with runny people…

Well you do a killer long endurance, fat burner workout before eating this tri-groom’s cake:

Core made of some nice lasagna. Topped off with a nice pizza. Ringed by choco covered crispy creme doughnuts for dessert.

Of course the real groom’s cake is one one honeymoon morning, steak and eggs followed by a BJ! Oh sorry, wrong holiday! http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/8/8_4_100.gif

Exactly - right I’m off to speak to the wife about this - she’s got some 'splaining to do!!!
