Grip (the oddly appropriate name)

Got Country Grip. Grip for short. All we need to make it perfect is the match race with a quarterhorse named Skid.

Remind me how the name Skid came about?

Remind me how the name Skid came about?

If I remember correcty, it was because of all the crashing Molina seemed to do. He spent a lot of time skidding on the pavement in the old days. Never stopped him, or slowed him down, just upped his beer and wine budjet…

And another trivia question, what is the rest of the grip name, and where did it come form???

You are around. Looking forward to your comments on the 101 cancel thread

Because he was known to skid across the pavement at times.

I believe the name Grip was given to Mark when he started dominating the SD Wednesday rides. When he was coming for you, he had you in his Grip of Death… or something like that.

Am I right? What did I win?

I believe it was “the grip of death” or something along that line because that’s what you were in when racing him.

course that is from my college days mid 80’s etc memory. My first life in triathlon which was killed by many years behind a desk and many many alcoholic beverages which may make it a little clouded.

Just started my second tri life a couple years ago so if I’m way off forgive me.

Ha! You and I must have been drinking the same juice!

I guess you still have a few brain cells left, that is correct…It was his single minded focus in racing, to win every time, that got him the moniker of “Grip of Death”…

woo woo pour me a beer…oh wait…

That would be what my wife refers to as my “head full of useless knowledge”.
