Greenhorns this weekend

the posse is heading to the greenhorns, for some 7000’ foot climbs (on the road bike). i can tell you sorta where we’ll be, but not zackly. we’re camping, with the truck campers, the dogs, etc., at about 7000’ or so (in other words, at the top of one of these climbs).

anybody wants to meet us up there (southern sierras) let me know, i’ll give you a good approximation of how to find us.

basically, riding big climbs, running, bbq, beer, stuff like that.

Oh, phew, I thought you guys were talking like … Latitude 35.88 & Longitude -118.41 … or 35.66 and 118.11, and I was like “no way, I dont like those areas”. This makes more sense now, crystal clear, thanks for clearing that up Joe!

Empfield,

I was thinking of heading up there also this weekend, but was reconsidering due to riding partners bailing out; maybe I will still head on up.

Last Sept. I camped at the Peppermint Campground at 7000ft and did the southern loop on day one and the northern loop on day two. The campground is just past (South) the little store on the Western Divide Highway down a dirt road about 1 mile (I rode up and down this road on my bike with no problems). There are tables and vault toilets but no water. There is also a nice creek next to the campgrounds to soak the legs in after riding/running. And this is one of the few campgrounds with no fee requirements.

When you decide which campground and what day you will be arriving let me know and I will see if I can make it up there. I was planning on doing those two loops on Friday/Sat or Sat/Sun. I am a glutton for punishment and would prefer climbing from Lake Success to the campground.

Thanks,

Noah Dowell

for latitude, assuming you meant 35 degrees, 75’, that point doesn’t exist.

Maybe he meant 35 degrees, 45 minutes, Mike. Seems a strange way to call 36 degrees, 15 minutes, doesn’t it?

Well, I’d have to assume that it means 75% of 60’, right? Either that or Kernville is a portal to some type of wormhole into outerwherever.

try N 35.45, W 118.25
.

I’d be there if I weren’t heading back east!
