anybody want to sign up for the pucon half?
Not an ocean swim, luckily…
Saw that on shark week … don’t want to watch it again.
That shark was just being harmlessly curiious … I mean it was a case of mistaken identity … I mean the the shark thought the boats were other predators and had to make a move.
The other thing that attracts sharks is that special time of the month for women, this could be the case in this girls situation. Ive heard of dolphins attacking women as well for this very same reason. Didnt a bear attack a woman on TV once and it was piined on the girls time of the month. Sad story in all cases
That’s terrible. Damn. Nobody standing shark watch? No one in the water with a mask to sound an alarm?
thanks for the link - Sugarbabe1963 might fit the bill
.
As the naturalists are so fond of saying: you’ve got a better chance of winning the lottery than being attacked by a shark - I guess these folks took that to heart.
I’d wager your odds increase when you’re paddling around in the ocean, though.
That’s terrible. Damn. Nobody standing shark watch? No one in the water with a mask to sound an alarm?
Tom, she was on a tour ship and they were at a stopping point and she thought she would like to take a quick swim since she had never swam in the ocean before.
They had her interviewed during shark week, and some expert was explaining to her that the shark felt that the other boats were competing predators and had to move in. The look on her face screamed, “F— You!”.
I’m always amazed why so many people feel the need to make excuses for the big predators. They’re big, they’re lethal, they’re hungry, you’re there, you’re screwed. What’s so difficult about that?
Who knows maybe the GWS just found his girl with another shark.
The other thing that attracts sharks is that special time of the month for women,
You what else attracts sharks? Something moving out in deep water.
You could save yourself a lot of time by simply asking the tour guide for the one or two things that doesn’t attract sharks, bears, etc. =) Just making some spoofish comments regarding how almost everything seems to “attract” predators. They do have acute senses, no?
Large animal predators could learn a little something from adult human males.
If I were a large predator the last thing I would do is bite or scratch a human female during her period. I would hate for “Oh, no you didn’t. Get back here!” to be the last words I ever heard.
Hey smitty…thanks for the nightmares ![]()
? (Are there any (big, hungry & curious) sharks off the coast of Curacao?)
Hell yeah…be careful out there.
You’re kidding right :0 !!! ???
I did a stupid thing back when my wife took me on vacation for my 40th birthday to Cancun. I swam the length of Cancun one day. I’m glad I’m still here in one piece. The waters are infested with fish that like meat.
Well, the only “excuse” is that shark are animals. I have a morbid fascination with sharks and shark attacks. I watch Shark Week every time it’s on to see if there’s anything new about the animals. From everything I’ve read and seen, they really don’t like the taste of humans. Most shark attacks are supposedly mistaken identity or curiosity. So, sharks aren’t looking to attack humans, hence the “it’s not the shark’s fault” menatality.
Check out the meat eater on this link: They are blood thirsty.
You’re right. Often times no level of precautions is adequate or will act as effective safeguard against an attack. At least having a person in the water with a mask and fins could serve as a warning if the visibility is clear enough. But of course- that’s a big if.
Ultimately, you’re right. It can be a dangerous environment. Terrible accident.
“The other thing that attracts sharks is that special time of the month for women”
That’s actaully an urban myth. Shark researchers have concluded that a women’s cycles have no effect on sharks.
Yeah… That was on Shark Week last year, where the guy was “trying to understand the reason for his attack.” I think the girl in the other video was on that shaw as well. Bull sharks are known to be very aggressive. This guy was in the water with several bull sharks, studying them. I’m still willing to bet the shark in that video was just curious, and not actively seeking to eat a human being.
