Great Customer Service by Saris/Powertap

Just wanted to let everyone know that I had a very good experience with Saris (Powertap) recently. I sent a ZIPP wheel to get the Powertap SL+ power meter upgraded a few weeks ago. The wheel arrived cracked and some of the spokes had been ripped out. It looks like it happened in transit.

The folks at Powertap were great and replaced the wheelset, no questions asked. I opted to go with their ENVE 6.7 G3 wheelset and am very happy with the choice. Just to be clear, they would have replaced the ZIPP wheel, had I requested they do so. Everyone that I’ve talked to that has the ENVE wheelset is very happy with the durability and quality of the wheels and the reviews that I’ve read all state this is a rock solid, fast training/racing wheel.

Great experience with Powertap. Kudos to them.

Carry on.

I’d have to second that statement. Blew through two Fluid 2 trainers in the past many years, and they always were excellent in prompt replacement, no questions asked.

Saris, along with Polar and Aqua Sphere are 3 companies among the top in customer service imo.

Im about to pull this trigger myself.
So you sent in the whole wheel? That makes the whole thing much more doable

Second this - I found great service as well (in this case from Paligap in the UK)
.

Ditto. Saris rocks.

I had an issue with a joule GPS, which I really, really like. They took care of me super quickly. Saris is top notch.

Agreed. I was having trouble with my g3 dropping out during rides. Cycelops sent me a beta update to try and fix the problem first but it didn’t work. Without questioning they then sent me a whole new powercap (2 day shipping) to fix the problem. Didn’t cost me a dime

Saris is ridunkulous they should have their photo next to ‘customer service’ in wiki.

I blew up 2 fluid units, no questions asked. 48 hours at most?

Im about to pull this trigger myself.

You’ll have to call their Customer Service to get an authorization and the address. After you do that, just send the entire wheel. I took off the cassette and tube/tires, but I’m guessing you can leave them on, if you want. They’ll upgrade the components of the hub and send it back. Very easy process.

I’d just make sure to insure the wheel on the way out there.

That’s what I just did. Sent in a Zipp with a SL 2.4 to get upgraded to ANT+. Should have done it myself a long time ago, but didn’t anticipate they would stop selling the little converter doo-dads. Insured the wheel for replacement with a new Powertap/wheel combo ($1850).

Spot

I agree 100%. Had older powertap sl that stopped working completely. Sent it in to get checked and a new G3 arrived within a week. Great work Saris. Just bought a fluid 2 trainer because customer service is great.

Another great experience from Saris - my 2.4 powertap pooped itself a few weeks ago. I bought it in 2008 and had done around 97000km on it so it was well used, I didn’t really want to get it fixed because of its age but was hoping they could do me a deal on a new one. We have no service centre in NZ so I sent it back to the USA and they sent me a brand new G3 at no cost all the way to New Zealand. How amazing is that?! Can’t see many other companies providing that kind of service especially for an expensive item like a powermeter.
High five Saris, you have a loyal customer for life.

Also in NZ, exactly the same problem, though mine was with a powertap that I had bought on the NZ equivalent of ebay and the calibration turned out to be way off. I paid freight to their service centre in US, they replaced the hub with a new G3 and freighted it back to me at no charge. Again, a loyal customer for life.

I agree X 3. I have sent them three powertap wheels in various states of not working, and they have replaced and upgraded them all for cheap or free, and the last two they installed an 11-speed compatible cassette body. And they have helped me with some Joule issues too.

If only WTC was this customer friendly…

  • Whatever

Powertap has not just some of the best customer service in their industry, but in ANY industry. They are one of the few companies I’ve ever dealt with that I felt like actually wanted to be helpful and not just take my money.
