Is grease on the seatpost just to prevent rusting together? I am going to routinely change the seatpost on my road bike, the 73 and the 78 degree angle one. Should I still grease them? It might just make it messy if I switch often.
Always put a light grease coating on the post - you don’t need much but it prevents the post from getting seized in the frame which is not worth the risk!
A light coat of grease if it’s a metal seatpost. No grease (or use carbon prep paste) if it’s fiber.
every stuck seat post or quill stem i ever removed had grease put on it when it was installed,it sounds like a great idea but a lot of greases are not waterproof, then you have a dam, stopping water from just running by,i have never greased a seatpost in 25 years of riding,if you do grease it go to a boat store and buy a good grease…(poster used to build frames and custom stems)
