Has anyone else here had any experience with these? Short or long term? Positive or negative? The price, it seems can’t be beat. (Even cheaper at other places besides the above link). They are certainly heavier than Zipps but an extra pound is the least of my worries, I think. I’ve raced a few half iron distance races over the past few years and some Olympics and Sprints. This year I will be doing my first Ironman and I have decided (arbitrarily) that the bike distance is long enough (and thus the potential time/effort savings might be great enough) to possibly warrant me buying something like these, considering how cheap they are. But not if I’m going to want to get rid of them after a year.
Any more experiences anyone would care to share? Good or bad, I want to hear it.
I race Gray 9.0 front and rear and the performance versus cost can’t be beat. I trained on them all last season and raced two Ironman 70.3 and I can’t fault these wheels at all.
As far as I understand Pro-Lite still exist and delivers parts to Synergy Sport who then choose the combo of hub, rim, spoke and whatever. The 09 wheels has a new hub and I don’t know where it is from as I haven’t seen them! Rumor says it is developed in house and with hybrid ceramic bearings.
I do however know that Grays 09 Disc is made by Zipp and is plenty light, weighing in at under 1 kg…that is lighter than the Sub-9.
I have been very happy riding Gray and for the support i have received from Synergy Sport
I’m happy to save myself some money. It just seemed like 90 mm deep wheels for under a grand was a good deal. But if I break your 404s, I’m gonna regret it.
