Got Milk?

Just started back to training after 2 years of being sedentary and the volume is ramping pretty quick while the weight is dropping faster than ever.

That info is a little context for my question. Lately I have been craving milk like crazy. At all times of day and even after workouts or on hot, sweaty, humid days when I should be looking for something cold crisp and icy.

What makes this strange is that I have not had a “glass” of milk in over a decade ( I did continue with other dairy products, however, such as yogurt and cheese). Mostly because it disgusted me. And now I’m downing it like a junkie.

So, my question is, what is it that my body may be missing that is driving the craving? Calcium?

Any nutritionists out there with an opinion? I should be looking at supplements, maybe…?

Thanks in advance.

how about drink some milk?

Yeah, that is the obvious answer, but usually cravings - especially ones that are out of the ordinary - are the body’s way of telling us something’s missing in the diet. So, considering that I’m getting lots of other sources of fat, cholesterol, sodium, carbs and sugars in my diet, that leaves calcium and vitamin D to be the main culprits - unless there’s some other nutritional element I’ve skipped over…

A little odd to go from nothing in a decade to constant craving.

"A little odd to go from nothing in a decade to constant craving. "

I don’t think so. After 12 years of vegetarianism, I started craving turkey sandwiches and chicken noodle soup one day.

If you’re craving milk, drink it, you probably need the calcium.

My body tells me that it is in Nutella and Jelly Bellys withdrawl all the time, because it constantly craves those things! I am always happy to oblige when my body tells me that it cannot survive much longer without some Nutella or Jelly Bellys in it.
