Good southwest tri camps?

anyone?

check www.multisports.com

Haven’t been to one personally, but have heard great things. Not cheap, though…

hmmm not cheap? not going. thanks though, i guess ill just keep looking around

If you want to put one together here in the Phoenix area, I’d be in. I’m sure we can round up a few athletes to rent a house for a month. Ususally you can gt something for around $3k. Would be a big beautiful house that could hold quite a few people.

I’ll look into it some and get back to you. Bet Desert Dude woud be in too. I could get a few fellas from Boulder and we could just beat the shit out of eachother!

Sent you a pm.

I would be interested as well. I used to live in Boulder, now in Highlands Ranch. Can I still come? What month are we thinking here?

Hell, I don’t know. Whenever.

I just started training again so I’ll be useless until January. I figure end of Jan. Maybe Feb.

Was just looking around and there are plenty of rentals for 500-2900 week in the area. I’ll keep looking around and see whats available to rent.

So best I can figure. I would be able to put together something with transportation, food, housing and training for around 500 a person for two weeks. I’d need a minimum of 9 other people to really make it work for that little.

Ooooooo! this is going to be fun! my new pet project. I’ll repost a thread on it when I put it all together!!!

Anyone else want in?

is phoenix the best place to do this? tucson any better or lake havasu?

Maybe not, but I think we can muster a few good folk to help put it on and keep it cheap.

I was thinking the Ahwatukee area would work out great. Some decient riding and running in and around South Mt.

I’d be willing to do most of the leg work to set it up. If there are other suggestions though, I’m open.

Come to think of it, I’ve always wanted to host a camp in Boulder City, NV. I’ve been there a few times and I really like it. Staying at the Hacienda Hotel and Casino would be fantastic. Boulder City beach is in view of the rooms and would allow us to open water swim each day. Fun roads and trails for running and the park for riding. 440 a week for two queen beds.

wow, yeah i would be more than interested. that would be great to go a couple rounds/miles with someone. ive been doing everything solo. so you all let me know what you can do but yeah tucson would be cool too. i live in las cruces.

If you were spending a few weeks just training in the PHX area, I would definitely say you should look at East Mesa. From there you have direct access to a lot of car-free, wide shoulder riding. Including the whole Usery Pass area, riding to and around Saguaro lake, and even some very intense climbing to Canyon Lake and up past Tortilla Flats.

You can also swim in Saguaro or Canyon lake. My problem with East Mesa is its distance from downtown PHX where I work. But you cannot beat the riding, and you are only 5 to 10 minutes from Saguaro Lake if you go up Bush Highway.

Also, the area is great for running and you have access to the whole Usery, Red Mountain, and Saguaro trail systems.

I’ve heard about those areas but never really been up there. I’ll look into it for sure.

Maybe you would be willing to help me and do a scouting trip? Show me these nice places you speak of?

No problem. I would be happy to head out there or help with any information.

ICTN has a camp the end of January in Phoenix. Several good pros will be there:

Hello guys,

You might be interested in one of the Counterpart Coaching winter/spring camps; the site should be up to date with all the camp details in a few days. We just added the camp with Gordo!

We’ve been running training camps for several years now and the CpC camps have developed a great reputation. You’ll find the all inclusive camps are affordable and include fantastic home cooked meals. The local hotel rooms are spacious and clean. Transportation to/from the Palm Springs airport is included so all you have to do is show up at the airport with your bike and we’ll take care of the rest. Support and schwag provided by our great sponsors include: Hammer Nutrition, Fuel Belt, Blue Seventy and Genuine Innovations. We have great people and athletes, and great times at our camps; ask anyone that’s been to one. CpC camps are centered around the training venues in the Palm Springs, CA area. Early season camps include:

Big Island Holiday Camp (Hawaii) Dec 24th - Jan 6th

Winter Sun Camp Feb 2 -11

Ralphs 1/2IM Camp March 23 - April 1

Desert Triathlon Camp with Gordo Bryn April 20 - 29

Details for a few of the camps are already posted on the CpC forum.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitch

I’ll throw some support behind Mitch Gold’s CpC camps. I had a chance to go to two of his camps this past season in Palm Springs and in Kona. Can’t say enough about the quality training, incredible venue, home cooked meals, and awesome friendships! Mitch’s camps are guaranteed to challenge any athlete and it’s not uncommon to see some pros and elites show up to take advantage as well. Definitely a season highlight for me this year.

I do give this support with a little hesitation because I don’t want his camps to get even more popular and sell out before I get a chance to sign up!!

Hack

I would be wiling to say that Mitch puts on a great camp. I personally don’t agree with some of his coaching ideas but I’ve met him, seen him speak and he’s the real deal when it comes to coaching. Tough guy with a great passion for the sport.

Mitch. I was with you on camp pendleton for a tri team meeting a few years back. I was working for running center at the time. That group was GRILLING you about your long brick WO’s. It was kinda funny the way these overweight newbies were hammering you and clearly had no idea what it takes to race an IM. Not FINISH an IM. RACE an IM. You stood your ground though brother! That was great! I was really getting a kick out of you trying to keep your cool in front of the group. Your face was priceless. Well done though. Well done.

Looking over Mitch’s camps they seem good. Still out of reach financially for some of us but thay are better than most. Sign up for SURE if you can… And buy his coaching package too!

Peace!

MDW

Hi MDW,

How funny, I remember that day!

I Wish I could run these camps for free, I have a great time at them. I really try to keep the price down so it’s affordable for everyone. Any profit is put back into the business to make the camps better.

Thanks for your kind words,

Mitch
