Good (safe) places to ride near Kalamazoo, MI

Hello all,

I will be in K-zoo for a week around the 4th of July and need a safe place to ride. I will probably be riding 80 at the longest, but I don’t mind doing loops if that is what it takes. Prefer hills, but that is not as important.
Thanks,
Brian

The Kalamazoo bicycle club has good rides on Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays. There is a 10 mile time trial every Tuesday leaving near the south-east side. There is a century leaving from the KVCC on the west side on the 15th. Its hillier north of K-zoo and flatter south of K-zoo. Here is a link to the bicycle club. www.kalamazoobicycleclub.org

Brian,

U could try riding from K-zoo to South Haven and back on M-43. Its about an 80 mile round trip. It is quite a busy road, but very manageable.

lots of great rides around here but not many hills…at least on the DATT scale of things. it has been offered to take M-43 to South Haven but i would humbly suggest that is a good way to become a statistic. PM me with an email if you want and i’ll get some routes to you. the KBC does some nice group rides during the week. and the tri club has a pretty large group getting ready for IMOO and may have a long ride or two while you are here that would fit the bill.

Thanks for those to replied (positively). I sent an e-mail to the tri-kats. Hopefully I can meet up with some of them.

If your still around on the 14th come on down the road a bit to Chelesa and join us for the annual One Helluva Ride Century! It takes you you through the town of Hell so you can say you rode through Hell! Great ride if your still in town!
