Hello - I will be traveling on a semi-frequent basis to La Jolla and am looking for good places to run - preferably with little traffic and minimal lights. Doesn’t matter if it’s pavement or trails. Distances of 5-12 miles. Any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks.
The easy answer is to run north on the coast, turn around and head back. For longer runs you can explore the trail system in Torrey Pines.
Thanks!
Check out Rose Canyon, a nice little trail in University City.
If you’re talking about downtown La Jolla, I often start at La Jolla Cove, then run south along the path. Cut down to the beach once the path ends, and run along the beach until Bird Rock. Then you can either turn around, or keep running into Bird Rock.
If you’re talking about all of La Jolla, Torrey Pines, man, Torrey Pines.
If you want hills there are numerous paths up Mt. Soledad. Some paved, some not.
The UC San Diego cross country course (forested area on campus) is a nice few miles of trails that can be tacked on to runs along the coast (beach, Torrey Pines, etc.)
.
Thanks all. This is perfect. Exactly what I am looking for. Perhaps I’ll see you out there Monday afternoon. I’m the slow pigeon toed guy.
