Need a pool next week that takes walk ins. I have seen a couple via Google, but I would rather a reference from someone than just a guess by me (I have seen some pools I would rather not go to in other places, never been to this area).
I used to travel to North of Charlotte frequently (Davidson).
The pool at Huntersville is possibly the best I’ve ever swam in (indoor). They’ve held some major competitions there.

enjoy the journey!
For praise like that I am definitely IN. 20 minute drive is nothing!
There’s a good app I have on my phone called SwimRadar that searches any area you’re in for pools. It also has contact info, phone numbers and website links so you can sort them out. I love it, as you can search any area even before you go or just when there.

Jim, I swim with the Master’s group at the HFFA 50M LCM pool about 20 mins north of downtown Charlotte. We meet at 5:30AM Tu/Wed/Th/Fr, and could get you details if you want to drop in.
Yep, you can’t do much better than HFFA (Huntersville Family Fitness and Aquatics). http://www.hffa.com/
The hours are 5AM-9:30PM. SwimMAC has a masters program you could probably hop into and the pool switches back and forth from LCM to SCY:
.
Long Course:
Monday/Wednesday 5:00am – 1:00pmFriday 5:00am – 1:00pmSunday 10:00am – 4:45pm
Short Course:
Monday/Wednesday 1:30pm – 8:45pmTuesday/Thursday/Friday/Saturday All day
HFFA is definitely a great option. If you find yourself in downtown Charlotte without time to get to/from Huntersville check out the pools at the Dowd and Childress Klein YMCAs.
Jim,
I live in Mooresville. The HFFA is definitely the best pool in the area. Watch out for traffic though. If you are coming up from Charlotte or down from Mooresville on I77 or the parallel roads it can be a night mare and turn into an hour drive.
Another alternative is the Lowes YMCA. The pool schedule can be found here http://www.ymcacharlotte.org/files/pdfs/Lowes/2016/LO_0316_ColdPool_Schedule.pdf It is a good pool, clean and water temp is fine, but is used for many of the youth swimming teams. It cannot compare to the HFFA facility.
Ironically I am in Chicago next week but if you need any other insights on Mooresville please PM me.
Best,
Greg
Thanks, I was going to head to Lowes, then I read something odd on their site about car breakins and such and that is when I posted here. I should have plenty of time while I am there, so I think I will head to HFFA. THANKS!

I am in for the 5:30 LCM swim on Wednesday if I am welcome. PM me the details (ball park length of workout and type and anything else you think important). I haven’t swam LCM in a long time, but what the hell, it is not like it won’t make for a better workout any way.
