Good Idea or Bad Idea?

I have been thinking about getting a new bike and I like the cannondale slice and the felt b2s. I have a kuota kalibur and while on a ride today, I came up with a good idea (I think). I want to mimic the look and aerodynamic advantage these bikes have by taking an idea that clutch cargo did to his H3 wheel (he turned it into a disc).

would it work out if I placed something similar (carbon covering) behind my seat tube and seat stays just above the rear wheel to make it solid back there? Would that work, or would it be a dumb idea. I know I have to be careful not to cover up the hole where you would have access to the rear brake. I was thinking about asking a master mechanic at an autobody shop.

your thoughts…

Two questions;

  1. How are you going to attach this contraption to the existing carbon frame?
  2. How much do you think it will cost to keep it light and secure? I am thinking it will be cheaper and much more beneficial in the end to sell your bike and purchase the Slice or B2

you do realise that frame fairings are illegal, even in triathlons right?

I did not know that. thanks.
I was thinking about using a resin to attach to the underside (for question to previous poster) etc.

I guess it is a bad idea

well you could always just do it for fun. i toyed with the idea of getting a steel frame with narrow tubes and making a 4:1 ratio fairings for the downtube, seat tube and seatpost, and it should in theory be a very fast frame even though i could never race it in any big events.

A custom-fitted hydration system, on the other hand . . .
