Good 26.0 stem options?

Based on my new fit courtesy of Dan and John Cobb, I need a new stem. I’ve got the Hed Vantage 8’s which have a 26.0 clamp size, but it doesn’t seem that many manufactures offer this size any more.

Can anyone recommend a good 26.0 -17degree 90mm stem?

Fred

-17 degree, good luck. Deda still makes the Newton (a good, light stem) in 26.0 but not in that drop. Ritchey comp or pro (not WCS) makes a pretty good drop, but not sure on size. You might also find luck with one of the older profile design stems. You can get them real cheap as well, but they are a brick.

What about getting a 26.0 adjustable stem?

Syntace makes a F139 version -17/26.0 but it is not sold in the US. But internet buying makes it relatively easy.

I ended up buying it at starbike.com

Good luck.

Can’t go wrong with Ritchey…I have this exact stem (Ritchey Pro) sitting in my toolbox.

I have Vantage 8 bars and I have an Oval R900. Works and looks good.

hey fred, i got to room with john last night and he says unless you have a carbon fetish and want to throw money away that the ritchey pro stems are the way to go.

and if you want to go lower they make a pro in a 30 but its only for 31.8 bars.

Hey Michael. Sounds like some interesting pillow talk last night! I was hoping to find something with a tad more bling, but I guess the Ritchey Pro will work just fine. I have the Ritchey WCS on my bike now, and it’s great (too bad I can’t get it in a -17 drop).

I recently switched from an oval adjustable to the dimension 125d 120mm stem.

I was surprised at the quality. And the oval ti bolt kit was a direct match. Makes for a ~150g stem if memory serves…

PM me if you want the oval adjustable cheap.

I second the syntace, I recently installed a 26.0 on my zipp vukas and am very happy with it. It’s very light and very clean looking.

Was just going through the same experience as I’ve thrown some Oval bars on my bike. You are pretty much looking at the Oval stem, Ritchey, and Visions (I guess FSA) Sizemore. For the price the Sizemore has a nice gloss finish and in the same ball park for weight as the others. I think it’s -10 degrees only though. Nice looking stem!

Carbon you are looking at Oval or Zipp. It appears that the 2008 Zipp SL 145 stem (± 12 degrees) comes in 26.0 and 31.8. In the 26.0 it only comes in 110 or 120 length. Looking at Zipp’s website the 2009 model only comes in 31.8. Ebay has two 2008’s on there for about $100 US. Oval has lots of sizes and a cool aero stem cap you can buy as well.

I Just ordered the sizemore from my LBS for about $60 Cdn.

Hope that helps.
