I posted a training plan, got some advice from members here and decided to cut back on it quite a bit to avoid injury. HM mid October.
I can’t tell if I am injured or paranoid.
The inside of my ankle is tightish. Most likely posterior tibial tendinitis or an Achilles issue. Doesn’t hurt at all, even at the end of a 6 mile run. Hardly even notice it throughout the day. Feels 100 % after a swim workout.
I’ve decided to take a few days off running, ice it several times a day, taking a NSAID, and stretching my calves and hams to take some pressure off the tendons.
Anyone else had an issue like this where it wasn’t per say a problem, but terrified it will turn into one and sideline you longterm?
It sounds like nothing serious. Just apply ice after a training session that might have aggravated it and back off if it continues to worsen. You could start an eccentric strengthening program if you are really keen.
I’d change the stupid, weak fan shaped anterior talofibular ligament that is extra capsular and a horrible 105 angle (for most of us) to a stronger, intra-capsular calcaneo fibular lig though. Far too easy to injure when “rolling” an ankle.
Indeed it is. I severely sprained my right ankle earlier this year. Doctor said I came within a mm of breaking something or snapping a ligament. It was about as far as you could push it and not have something go. It blew up like a water balloon and looked like it needed to be amputated at one point. I had never seen so many shades of black and blue. I wondered if I was ever going to walk normally again.
