The company I use to work out layed off 3 guys, 3 months later we need to rehire so we called them back, two had found other work, but one said “why should when I can sit at home for 18 months and only make $45 a week less”

I never understood this. Why do people get paid for doing nothing? What about doing projects at public parks, on highways, etc. People could still collect benefits, but would have to do something for them.
