Go Lance!

Looks like Lance is in great shape…he just won the TT(49’32) by more than a minute. Second is David Millar(50’39). Tyler finished in 54’23.

I’m all exited! :O)

Go Lance!

i guess i can’t figure out why he did this?

everyone knows he ‘can’ do it… but what is his point? he CRUSHED it. after this display, doesn’t the field look at him and re-evaluate any plans to challenge him as a stand alone? doesn’t this make it so clear that that only chance the field has is if they gang up on him?

i’m blown away… the margin over millar & hamilton is crazy.

this seems contrary to his approach of only looking to win the tour, and cat-and-mousing any information on his fitness. he won the midi last year, but he didn’t do anything like this did he?

either a super advanced move that is tough to understand, or he just went out and gave it a big effort because its a race?

either way… all hail lance…

Quick! Who has an inventory of all the equipment that Lance used vs. Millar? We need to find out which piece of equipment we can buy to get that minute advantage!

Speaking of gear, you can’t find the USPS team jersey or Yellow Jersey anywhere(in normal sizes). Just in case you wanted to show your support.

Lance inventory

  1. Legs
  2. Lungs
  3. Burning Desire
  4. Legs
  5. Lungs
  6. Oh and a bike with wheels and Pedals
  7. Bike helmet

I think that anyone with these things would definately take a minute off of their tt time…

Go Lance

What a day for the USA… 3 riders in the top 3 positions

I think you misunderstood the first post. Davide Millar is from Great Britain, born in Hong Kong I believe and Tyler finished well down the results in 44th place. His time was listed as a reference point to Lances domination over other Tour contenders. If you read Tylers diary he is hoping only to use the Dauphine to build fitness and not contest the overall.

Oops I got David millar mixed up with someone else

Amazing what lance can do…

Can;t wait for the tour

And by the way, according to cyclingnews, Tyler had some stomach problems, so he was probably not at his best. Still a great performance by Lance. But the Tour is the Tour and anything can happen (maybe it will be Lance who will have stomach problems). So little can mean so much, will have to wait and see.

About Lance showing too much, I dont know, it’s a great confidence builder, and it’s always good to shut a few mouth up! Maybe some people will do as Ulrich last year, bow to their master ;O) (Dont reply angrily to this comment, Ulrich is a great rider and it is all at his honour to admit that that year he was not as good as Lance. A lot better then making some excuses like others)

i guess i can’t figure out why he did this?

Lance stated a couple days ago that his desires for this race are to gauge his fitness and to gauge the team. Now that they have to defend the jersey, he’ll get to see what they can do.

i think lance must have logged in to his slowtwitch account and read my question…

he was just quoted as saying “It was important to show my team-mates I was ready for the Tour de France”…

that makes sense…

Here’s Lance during the ITT,

Any critiques on his position?

Its now my desktop background. I wonder…is he wearing something under his shirt? Probably body armour, given what the european’s opinion of him is. Water pack? Fake gut (to throw off his opponents)?

probably be hard pressed to find someone who could credibly critique a position that won with such a large margin. well… the position combined with the engine.

i’ll tell you though, it makes me not feel so bad that i can’t get down as far as some others.

this pic (when considered with the results) makes a guy think real hard when people make the statement about not giving up power for aero.

This is unmistakable proof that Lance frequents Slowtwitch! Come on man… quit lurkin’ and POST!!!

Someone asked that on a forum a few months ago and apparently that is his lungs and diaphragm causing his stomach area to expand. It’s something to do with a breathing technique.

Keep in mind that this was a mostly uphill time trial. Lance is probably climbing in this photo. For a climbing position it looks great to me. Of course Lance probably climbs a 7% hill at the same speed I go on the flat, but that is another matter.

Don’t forget that the Trek TT bike is a slack seattube bike (~74*, I think). So, according to Dan’s formula for armrest drop, there’d be no way that Lance could be as low on the front end on this bike as he could on, say, a P3 (at 78-80 degrees) and still generate decent power (decent being a relative term. He could have his head between his legs and pedalling with one leg and still generate more power than me).

No Problem over here in Germany, just bought a set two weeks ago. Lots of them still available.
