GM, again

Nothing new. Line that got me was this:

Over the past four years, GM has lost $82 billion and cut 92,000 jobs. The combined loss is equivalent to about $56 million a day since the start of 2005.

And yet they refuse to file for bankruptcy while we toss $$$ at them. Go figure.

Why declare bankruptcy when the Fed is happy to give loans?

Obama and the congress are so brilliant! Just keep giving away money.

But they are too big to fail…
.

Come on man, we need to buy American. Just dont ask where these “American” cars are really made…Oddly, the Subaru IS made in America. Damn imports.

I think the American people should invest another 20-30 billion into that investment, sounds like a bargain at twice the price!!!

I’m nearly 100% sure my company would not survive the collapse of the big 3…but I’m also 100% sure they need to collapse.

So throwing 750 at the banks with TARP is ok but 35 Billion to help out the industry that was the driving force behind WWII victory isn’t?

American’s love to say if it wasn’t for us the French would be speaking German, well if it wasn’t for the BIG 3 we’d all be speaking German…

Enjoy your Suburu’s and Honda’s you traders :stuck_out_tongue:

really? so what did we drop on Nagasaki and Hiroshima? Edsels and Studabakers or some bad ass technology?

Let them fail and be gone. And for the record i drive a Lexus, Suburus are lame.

i drive a Lexus
Are you 80, or a woman? Got to be one of the two in a Lexus.

B-52 bombers rolled off the line 1 every 60 seconds…The fact that you drive a toyota is all I need to know about you…

Who ever said that throwing 750 at the banks was OK? You can’t possible believe that rewarding bad business practices is ever a good idea, can you?

If we are going to just toss money govt. money at every business that is run into the ground I am going to start one with the sole purpose of getting that govt. money.

b52? that was Boeing then right. So lets bail them out. still no love for the big 3 - they can fail.

I appreciate your patriotism, but the B-52 came long after WWII was over. Maybe B-17s, or tanks, were made by GM.

Run away Troll… We did bail out Boeing and they rebounded quite nicely…

Boeings competition however was state funded (Multi Country at that) with Airbus. When you have Govts trying to knock a private business out of the market that is a whole other story. Then again, we let China do the Polka on us as a nation all day long.

So, GM saw the writing on the walls (finally) and starts cutting jobs/costs.

They negociate huge changes in the way they handle legacy costs with the UAW.

IMHO, they were on their way to a more profitable/viable future, but then the bottom dropped out of the economy for everyone.

They don’t have the cash, and can’t get the credit to ride out the storm (because Wall St. f-ed up).

Obama talks about CREATING JOBS, and punishing companies that outsource, but letting the Big 3 go belly up just outsources a ton (millions) of jobs.

Remember, they still sold/sell more cars than anybody else (Toyota a close 2nd, and sometimes swap positions depending on how you count cars).

They don’t have to fail. They should have to file chapter 11 and rebuild.
