Giro stage 12 ***SPOILER*** Road race tactics

Evans always seems to be complaining about somthing, but what is the protcol in the situation that happened at the end is it ok to block the chase?

Another day in the Giro, another unusual result. So a normal day for the Giro.

Whats the question, what happened?

Did a team come up to the front and “block” the chasing group so the break can stay away?

Teams that have a man in the break will slow down the chase until another team moves them off. That’s why Evans was getting into it with the Katusha guy since they had Pozzato up the road.

Evans missed that but Garmin totally blew it. The few seconds won’t be decisive but not lining Farrar up for the sprint is a big fail.

Most of the Giro teams just aren’t as strong as they’d normally be with squads split up for ToC. Rarely would you see a move get away with that much HP, and then the peloton not having the legs to bring it back.

Katusha and Lampre blocking for Pozzato and Cunego, Evans throwing punches. Here’s a pic:

cool in amateur stuff, often frowned upon in proraces, not just letting the guys do their jobs and chase. But its legal, and happens. Also, cuddles will find something to whine about no matter what.
