Giro. Loose helmet straps

Has anyone else noticed how loose some of the riders have their helmet straps? Basso and Salvordelli particularly have the straps hanging down with enough room to slip a whole hand between chin and strap. Surely this means that the helmet will move around or even off in the event of a crash.

To date the rules don’t require anything other than you have a helmet on your head. They say nothing about having it strapped on. Virenque rode most of the mountain stages in last year’s Tour with the straps undone and tucked up into the vents.

Yes, I was aware of that ruling. However, it’s ridiculous to have to wear them and not even get the benfit for the sake of proving a point.
