Saturday: http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/93rd-giro-ditalia-gt/stage-20

Saturday, 178km and 6320m of vertical climbing…that’s nearly 21,000ft.

It’s going to be brutal (and fun to watch).

Bets? I’ll go with Basso for the final win, with Evans second at the end.

THis is hands down the most enjoyable Grand Tour I’ve ever paid close attention to (not a huge field but still). Only a few “filler” stages with comething crazy and ionvolving happening almost every day. I think your prediction is spot on but I’m guessing Arroyo puts on a show to hold on on Friday and is only bumped from Pink on Saturday.

I cannot comprehend 21,000 feet of climbing in a day - consider the press the AmZof course gets here which is just 2,600ft a lap.

During this mornings stage they were talking about the weather forecast for Sat----SNOW!!! That would be fitting for this year with all the rain in the beginning and now with the big climbs…classic!

Can’t remember the last time there’s been such wide open racing in a grand tour – it’s awesome. Basso is looking solid and the last two days suit him. The guy I can’t understand is Sastre - one minute he’s in the race and the next hanging on by a thread. Nonetheless, he’s my dark horse choice.

You think?

Maybe Sastre doesn’t “recover” as well as Basso from the hard efforts.

And we wonder why cyclists feel like they need to dope.

They feel like they need to dope, to win, not to actually do it. If they climbed at 16km/h instead of 18km/h, would you notice the difference?

They’re still the best riders out there. It’s not like they can’t do the stages without doping…

If you say so. What I meant was that part of the reason to dope is to recover from the tough stages. If races want to try and have epic stages every single stage race, guys will feel the need to make sure they can get through the finish.

And this is some of the views from pro’s that have been interviewed. If race organizers want to go balls to the wall with stages, than dont turn a blind eye or be shocked when the riders do what they have to do.
