I know it’s been in the pipeline for a logn time now, but I just got a call from All 4 Sports saying that the Giro Advantage II has arrived and that it’ll be shipping to me in the next day or so.

Finally!
I’ve heard they changed the colors from the original three that were being show (Blue/White, Black/White & White/Black). Does anyone have a link to the colors that will actually be available?
Edit: Nevermind. I found them. That Silver/White one looks like the perfect compliment to my 2006 Dual!

although I think the A2 is fast, that thing is a PIA to put on, for short course I wonder if the time saved over my RP Syton would be nullified by the process of getting it on…let us know!
I intend on using it for long course stuff mostly. The short course (Oly) around here are pretty hilly, so I’d use my Atmos then. Who knows, though, I haven’t even tried the helmet on yet.
JOOC, what’s difficult about putting it on (ie. what’s different than any other helmet)?
Steve
it is very tight on the ears. It takes me at least a minute to get it on, then settled, I have pull my ears out, then adjust it.
That said my melon is pretty large, but the actual “fit” of the helmet is ok once it is settled.
KP
Thanks. Sounds like one of those things that you should definitely try before buying.
Steve
Ya, I just got mine yesterday! It’s really slick indeed. It is a bit tricky to get on, and when you first take a look at it you’re gonna think, “Oh no, I bought it too small”, but you just have to put it on on a downward tilt and then bend your ears back into their normal position i guess. But once you get it on, it’s really great. I like the way it fits much better than the LG Rocket I used to have. I haven’t taken it out for a test yet, I’ll probably try it out this Saturday.
Yes, I just got an e-mail that all3sports.com is shipping mine today!! Glad to get it a bit ahead of Louisville so I can try it in the heat. Let’s hope this one fits my melon better than the Spiuk…

So is it going to save you more time than the extra it takes to put it on in T1? I’m still bewildered as to why this helmet seems to have been regarded as the second coming of the messiah for the last year or so…maybe it will die down now it’s actually available.
um, that’s what I asked in my original post…is it THAT much faster than a RP Syton that goes on as fast as a non aero helmet?..not sure.
KP
Steve,
I got one of the Spiuk helmets (I have a source here locally for them) and have no issues with fit…
Just FYI…

Hi Steve,
We have the new colors up on our site. http://www.trisports.com/giroadvantage2.html
As far as delivery, we started taking pre-orders for this helmet back in the winter. As you probably know, this helmet has beend delayed several times and while they are telling us they are now really coming I won’t believe it until they actually hit our receiving bays.

I got an email from trisports.com today (where I’ve had mine preordered since about March) and they said that it was delayed until “Fall” with no firm ship date. They were converting orders to the closest new color, although i already emailed in last week to get mine switched.
I’m kinda jealous that all3sports is getting them and shipping earlier, but I think I used a 15% off coupon last spring when I ordered mine from trisports, so I guess I’ll just wait it out. I really wanted to wear it for a race the last weekend of august.
They hae been available to the larger shops, we have had them in stock for about a week or so now.
Hi, how about the new Ionos from Giro? it doesn’t look much different than Atmos. Do you have input on that?
Thanks.
I jsut received my shipping confirmation email from All3Sports. So, unless they’re shipping an empty box that weights 3.6lbs (according to UPS) I’ll have mine tomorrow.

just wanted to update- TriSports.com has shipped my pre-order of the Giro Advantage II! Looks like I should have it mid-week!! YAY!
We got some of the Advantage II helmets in today. All 3 colors in all sizes. Several customers who happened to be in the store when the shipment arrived grabbed a couple of them. We put in a large order though and have a number of them left for anyone else.
I got my Advantge II from All 3 Sports yesterday and from a fit perspective the thing is awesome. Very stoked to be able to use it this fall.
